Further to my earlier reply, I observed that many of my friends could not register and log into my site. It is probably due to the default XP setting on cookies. I've asked them to change it. However, if you are operating a public website, the XP issue will frustrate some of your potential clients and they will not come back again.

Anyone has the same issue? (A similar thread was posed by somebody but seems nobody answers)

Thanks mOnnty,

In fact I've searched for the same topic which not suiting me, before I pose it. Anyway, I've just solved it as it is due to the cookies of the Win XP settings. Changing the XP default setting to accept 3rd party cookie can solve the problem. Hope this can help the others.

Thanks again for Bandit-X contribution and Nelson's raising of the issue that finally solved my problem.

Nelson,

It's good to here that your site works. I followed the same and it worked for a while. Now I could hardly log in as administrator via the internet.. Even I successfully log in, I would be kicked out with the message that I am not authorized to access the module.

When I log in from the same LAN segment, everything is fine.

Would you please share your experience on dynamic IP, no-ip port re-direct? Many thanks!

Woo... I found out that XOOPS is not intended for dynamic IP environment. Luckily that I did not throw my broadband router against the wall. Look like I have to concede and to subscribe an fixed IP broadband line.

My XOOPS works fine when I connected it directly to the ADSL whose IP will change randomly.......

I have done the installation with the following config.:

Apache 2.0
PHP 4.42
MYSQL 4.1.18
X00ps 2.23
for personal website using dynamic ip with port 80 re-routing by www.no-ip.com

The site was setup up and work fine under on the LAN side. However, I tried to access the website with another broadband line (or remote) and it disappoint me with:
- very slow response (took ove 20 second to get the login page)
- missing XOOPS banner at the login in page
- site was inaccessible after keeing in the correct login name.

However, it was working fine when I use another PC in the same LAN segment to access it. Would it be the problem with the router setting or the ISP? Firewall on the router has been open for test but still fails.

When I used tested with another website with simple setup and contents, the response via internet was fast and good. Now I am stuck and don't know what to do. Would anybody please help!

Many thanks!
