Well, this is part of my confusion. I don't assume you mean to send both of the unpacked folders 1)modules 2) docs to the XOOPS root? I assume you mean only the contents of /Modules into html/modules/name of mod.

Sorry to be so literal but it's these simple fundamentals that are tripping me.

Is it safe to assume that the versions in the Five Pack labeled 2.2 on the main download page, are in fact compatible with version 2.2?

I've been told that some of these versions may NOT be updated for Ver 2.2 compatiblity.

So, html/modules is the structure that XOOPS sets up when it installs. This is the modules folder to which you refer, I assume.

I do NOT need to add a folder called Modules to the XOOPS root. Correct? xoops/modules

Do I copy xoops_version.php to any Module folder? Where does this file reside when XOOPS is installed?

Here's what is confusing. When XOOPS installs, the two mods that come with the program are setup in html/modules/module name/module files. Why would I put additional modules in diretory other than that one?

Just to make sure I understand:
xoops_root/modules/the module's folder/the module's files?

And, not to be confused with

xoops_root/html/modules
the above exists upon XOOPS install. So, I DO NOT put the modules in this folder. Right?

I've uploaded the files for the five pack:
(XOOPS 2.2 Module Packages (5))
To the modules folder in my install of XOOPS 2.2.

When viewing the System Admin, I see at the bottom, three install icons but when I click any of these I get a "Module File for Not Found!" message.

My first thought was wrong folder. But in moving the files to other folders I seem to get the same results.

I've read the Install FAQ but find no detail about the correct folder, etc.

What is the proper procedure for installing a module in Xoops? Or please point me to where I can find instructions.

I don't see an .htaacess file in the tree of a fresh download of Xoops. Is this a file that is built when installing?

If I delete and reinstall will I goof-up the db files?
