xcGallery admin mode problem

I'm running XOOPS 2.2.3 and have a strange problem with my xcGallery module. I set up version 2 of the gallery a couple of months ago with no problems whatsoever. Everything worked fine through a few days of testing. Today was the first time I did any site maintenance since then and now a problem has popped up.

I'm having major problems switching between user and admin modes. I click the link and get the "Entering admin/user mode" message, but when the page refreshes, nothing has changed...but it's not always the same. Sometimes it does change modes, but while in the admin mode, galleries that I create don't appear right away...sometimes even taking 5 or more minutes to appear. And then when I do see them, I can't delete them because of insufficient privileges...after another few minutes the galleries that it said it couldn't delete are gone.

Basically, any function I perform as admin has major problems. I upgraded my xcGallery version to 2.0.2, but have the same problem. I also set the chmod for the albums, userpics, and even the xcgal folder to 777 to no avail.

Does anyone know the problem or a possible solution? Thanks so much for any help!

I can't seem to get a "Recent News" block to display to any user including webmaster. I created a block for "Recent News" through block admin. It's set it to Center Block -- Center, visible, Top Page, and visible to all user groups. I've set block and module access/admin for "News" and "Recent News" for all users, even anonymous, to yes...I did this through the groups admin page. I made sure I created/approved a new news story under the news topic I selected for the block I made for it.

None of this works, however. The block just doesn't appear when I go to my top "home" page. Other blocks that I have set up exactly the same (custom block and RSS Feed block) display perfectly. Also, news blocks other than Recent News will display fine...the problem is only with Recent News blocks. I enabled PHP debug mode, but there are no errors.

Also, I can access the main page of the news module by typing it in the address bar: www.example.com/modules/news

Any ideas as to what I'm missing?

Wow, too easy. With all the stuff I tried I can't believe I didn't think of that.

Works perfectly now. Thanks!

Xoops Virtual Path and Domain forwarding???

OK, I finished the initial release of my first XOOPS website, but I would like to change the url that people use to access the site.

Currently I access the XOOPS site at:

http://mydomain.net/xoops/html

I would like to be able to access my page by simply using my domain name:

http://mydomain.net

I did a lot of searching and I saw a lot of references to the XOOPS virtual path. Many said just to change the virtual path in your mainfile.php to the url you want. When I changed it as I noted above, I still get a 404 error when I type just the domain, but now I also have all of my theme/css stuff missing if I go to the full address that includes the /xoops/html.

I then tried to forward my domain name through my hosting company to the address with /xoops/html. That didn't work either. My hosting company said that unless I had a physical page to point to in the /xoops/html directory, the dns forwarding wouldn't work.

How can I make my site work by just usinghttp://mydomain.net?

Thanks in advance!

To add new pictures, first create directories for the albums you want in the xcgal albums folder and upload the pictures with an FTP program. Then Access the xcgal admin by going to Administration/modules/xcGallery. Create a category for your albums.

Then access the gallery by entering:
http://yourdomain.com/xoops/html/modules/xcgal/ into the browser.

xcGallery should display on your page. Enter admin mode of the gallery, and you will see a button for create/modify galleries. You can then create albums to hold the pictures.

Return to xcGallery admin (where you created the categories) and select Batch Upload. You can then select the photos that you uploaded from FTP and place them in the albums you created.

Hi all. I'm a newb to both XOOPS and this forum and could really use some help. I've searched both Google and this site for an answer but couldn't find one.

I just attempted to install xcGallery 1.1 and received the follwing error at the end of the install log:

Notice [PHP]: Undefined variable: xoopsConfig in file /home/content/g/r/a/grassninja/html/xoops/html/modules/xcgal/language/english/modinfo.php line 97

...followed by a whole slew of "unable to read resource" errors.

The actual text from line 97 of the modinfo.php file is:

"define("_MI_ECRAD_TEXTDESC","(for text ecards and as alternative text for html ecards)<br /><b>Useful Tags</b><br />{X_SITEURL} will print ".XOOPS_URL."<br />{X_SITENAME} will print ".$xoopsConfig['sitename']."<br />{R_NAME} will print recipient name<br />{R_MAIL} will print recipient email<br />{S_NAME} will print sender name<br />{S_MAIL} will print sender email<br />{SAVE_DAYS} will print number of day an ecard is saved in db<br />{CARD_LINK} will print the ecard pick-up url");"

I have a Linux host with XOOPS 2.2.3 installed. If it's of any consequence I also have an installation of Coppermine running that is located in my system's root directory.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
