I ran an experiment. I backed up the database, completely uninstalled the module (thus dropping all the tables), and it worked perfectly. Only problem....all the forums were empty, and so on.

So while I was trying to re-import the data, I ended up corrupting the new database, and I had a lot of duplicate info all over the entire site. A bit of a mistake on my part, but at least I know how to fix it.

So for now, the site is entirely not working. I took it down entirely. I won't have time to play with it for a few days.

The message posted there now is a disgruntled fit. I should change it. All the while as I was trying to get the forums working, I was getting nasty messages about how XOOPS is inferior and how the site sucks and so on. It was just two or three guys...but they put me in a bad mood last night.

I will try to get everything working again...and I'll let you know if I continue to have problems with the forums.

In the Admin panels, I went to the user tab and selected the groups pulldown. Then I made sure that every group had access to the module.

Still no luck...:(

Tried that, didn't help.

Just noticed some more info. Apparently, only the Admin group is the only group that can access the forums without the blank page problem. I'm thinking there might be permission problems. But within the module, I set all permissions to be exactly the same for testing purposes.

Ok...grabbed CBB 2.30. Control panels work now. But I have a new problem.

An anonymous user cannot access or view any of the CBB forums or CBB blocks. If an anonymous user accesses the forums, or any page containing a block relative to the forums...xoops yields blank pages. No HTML at all.

Turn debug on...and here's the output:

<code>

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/sites/scenespot.org/site/www/modules/newbb/class/category.php on line 220
Notice [PHP]: Undefined index: lang_rememberme in file templates_c/%%6E^6E8^6E8C036B%%db%3Asystem_block_login.html.php line 12

Notice [PHP]: Use of undefined constant f_date - assumed 'f_date' in file modules/tunetracker/blocks/tt_blocks.php line 24
</code>

It continues on with several other errors.

Any theories?

I set all my permissions so that anonymous users can have access to the CBB (newbb) module. However...any time an anonymous user tries to access forums, you get a blank page. Nothing else. No HTML what-so-ever.

Same holds true on any other page with a CBB/newBB block present.

Any ideas?

CBB 2.3
Xoops 2.2.3 final.

Having trouble with some of the admin problems on my latest newBB update. I updated from old 1.0 forums. For the most part, it went fairly well. But there are two panels that give me trouble. Specifically, the "Blocks" panel and the "Forums" panel.

The blocks panel (/modules/newbb/admin/myblocksadmin.php) comes up with an entirely blank page (no HTML what-so-ever). I did not alter the file in any way.

The Forums panel is a bit more comlplicated. If I try to edit a forum, I get the module control panel body (the menu tabs) with the tabs at the top for newBB. But I don't see any of the regular XOOPS admin menu framework. A block appears titled "Editing Forum:", but it is empty.

Anyone have any theories as to how to troubleshoot?

Xoops 2.2.3

I've been using XOOPS for a few years now, and I never really thought about this before:

Why would you need to specify a table prefix for your XOOPS tables at install time? Is there ever a reason why you would change this? For that matter...what is the purpose of having a prefix at all?

The only reason I can think of is to have two or more sites running from the same database. But I would imagine that would be very bad practice.
