I am having trouble with the .htaccess file, I have created the file and uploaded it to my root directory.

1. I am unable to view the file using my FTP Upload Utility
2. I am able to view the file using my website control panel file manager.

3. The file is in place with the correct information, but the Protector is still stating that this function is on, when I have it set to off.

php_flag register_globals off

Also, I'm not sure to where to find files php.ini or httpd.conf my website is hosted on Linux. If that helps. I have full access to all directories for my website.

And Also, I am confused about the prefix option, does this change my database prefix. The instructions are a bit vague for someone that doesn't know squat about php.

I guess installing over the old version works. Everything is fine now.

I've been running 2.0.13.2 for about 2 years now with no hiccups, and decided to upgrade to 2.0.14; I have seriously run into a problem.

When trying to upgrade (following the readme.txt instructions) uploaded all the files (overwriting everything). When I try to go to {xoops_url}/upgrade/ it says file not found on this server.

My database is in tact, the only problem is, I don't know how to save it and reapply it on a new installation of xoops.

I think I really screwed up, I can't log into my site, because it doesn't exist.

I would like to know how to have special ranks that I have created show up as different color text on the main forum view.

Where it says current users browing.

Administrator is Red
Moderator is Blue
Special RanK is Green
Special Rank is Violet

If this is possible let me know how.

I have tried everything I can think of for this one user to my site. He is unable to post in the forums, he has the same exact rights as everyone else on the website. I cross-checked the database with information from other users.

I do not have any IP bans on the site, no word filtering, nothing I can think of fixes this problem.

I am wondered if the problem was on his end, check to see if he had pop-up blockers, ad blockers, firewall, or anti-virus software not allowing him to post. He does not.

Every other person that has registered to my website has been able to post in the forum.

Any ideas.

bump...

Any other suggestions, there has got to be some XOOPS experts around here somewhere.

Please, these two sites are very crucial to business.

Thanks in advance.

**Update**

Must have been a hosting/server issue because all is well right now. It's weird that I could view phpMyAdmin and edit the forum posts and everything, but the site wasn't viewable. My hosting company must have been doing maintenence or something.

But how would this happen all of a sudden, I haven't updated or edited either of the two websites. It was working at 5am and now its not working.

It really doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

**Update**

I have checked all the settings in the mainfile.php; everything is in order. I even have it set to persistent connection.

I'm completely boggled.

I have access to the database through phpMyAdmin using MySQL. All of a sudden I have no access to either of my XOOPS sites. I get this error:

This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

If you are the administrator of this site, please visit the XOOPS Troubleshooting Page for assistance.

Error [Xoops]: Unable to connect to database in file class/database/databasefactory.php line 34

I am able to edit the database with the tool, but unable to view the sites.

Any suggestions?

When I try to create a new category for the forums in newbb2 I receive a database error. I have turned on phpdebug, but receive no errors.

Nevermind...

I uninstalled the module, went in phpMyAdmin and dropped the bb database entries and reinstalled the module.

Now it is working fine.
