Hi Mowaffak:

The tip seems to work in a simple block module but in the news block doesn´t look so easy, anyway thanks for the quick reply, in fact I did check that hack from XOOPS Tips before post here.

I had to go around and just include the graphic in the bottom of the first block and delete the title in the block configuration, so I guess I did acheive the look I wanted but not in the right way.

Graphic title instead of text title for Recent news block

Hi:

I´m wondering if some of the members have the solution for this particular request.

I want to change the header title of my recent news block, the idea is to use a Graphic instead of a text title, i try with the news_block_top.html but not avail, I´m lost, if somebody just nows how to do it and share it.

As you can see in my site tunaseiners.com in the centre block Recent News need to change for a graphic.
I´m using News 1.44
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Happen to me some times when there is not good conection to the database, sometimes a server hiccup, once the connection is back to normality, the message just dissapear

Sort search results in alphabetic order

Hello:

I set the minnimum word lenght in the search preferences in order to get results by alphabetic order in a webshow module, but the results display all the letters included in the wor.
What I want and I need is to sort only the results capturing the first letter of the word.
I´m not a programmer barely I did some changes or try to hack the search results but not avail.

I insert this code in the template but the results are not what I expect

I suffer trying to figure out the problem, I just want to post it cause there is a lot of people looking for answers, hope this can solve the problem of invalid sessions.

YES ... Success ... SPAW is now OK for my friend.



In Internet Explorer ... I had him go to ... Tools ... Internet Options ... under the General Tab .. on Temporary Internet Files click on Settings.  It asks "Check for newer versions of stored pages" ... choose "Every visit to the page".



He made that change and TinyD works as well for him as it does for me

Voting restricted by IP or cookies? How to solve this?

A friend of mine is building a site using xoops, the most important subject of the website is voting, teaching voting focused on kids and the learning of procedures for elections.

He explain me that their voters can not vote cause the site doesn´t allow to vote more than once a day per IP, the problem is that a big chunk of the local web users share the very same IP of the local IP Services (RACSA)

What to do in order to enable o permit voters to use the XOOPS polls without restrictions.
Any light or any idea on this subject will be highly appreciated.

I guess the comment of blue nova is right, but also there is many reasons, as the graphics load, scripts, or too many blocks on the main page. I think this is a subject we can not avoid.

Some times we commit sin trying to show many things at the same time, perhaps aiming to catch the attention of the visitors, I want to ask some more experienced webmasters to advise on this subject.

How we can restrain our selves to publish too much on the main page, or publishing wisely.

Hope my english is readable by all xoopers an visitors.
