I double checked all permission categories and they are all correct right now. View permissions are set so all groups can see all news...but, it still asks the user to log in if you click on a news link to read it!!

Anybody else have any ideas?

I have my site set up so that anonymous users should be able to see News, Blog, content, etc...but not actually submit or approve. However, even though the permissions for those modules are set properly, (visible to anonymous), if you click on a news post it requires you to login before you can read it? Please Please Please explain what's going on and how to fix it. I don't want everyone to have to register just to read it!!!

OK, what you need to do is edit the maihfile.php, delete the files in the /xoops/html/templates_c folder (they will be files with several % in the name) and update your system module.

For my site I had to create a 'splash' screen that sent people to my www.mysite.com/xoops/html...that way, it didn't matter if they visited with the www or non-www address they would always get the www. XOOPS site and the referer works perfectly now.

Bump -

Please help. I need a blogging module that does a better job of seperating user blogs, and blog categories, with some permissions.....If you know of something else that will work, let me know that too!

I will be putting together something like tutorial of what worked for me and posting it for others that may have this problem.....after a lot of work, it was really a pretty simple fix!!

Thanks guys!!

Be looking for my tutorial type post in the next day or so!

PS - I owe you one m0nty, the next pint is on me

I keep gettting various FATAL ERROR messages, all referring to various call to undefined function errors....the home page error reads "Fatal error: Call to undefined function: xoops_gethandler() in /home/content/*/*/*/********/html/xoops/html/header.php on line 34"

I am stuck - Please help ASAP if you have any ideas!!

Thanks!!

UPDATE:
Nevermind - after nearly freaking completely out, I decided to check my mainfile.php one last time and my virtual path was configured incorrectly...fixed it and all's well....whew!

Thanks again m0nty, I have modified the mainfile.php with the www version, hoping that just using that one would cure it. But, every time I log in the url changes from the www. addres to the non www address. I have updated the system module, hoping the correct files would be updated. I remember a post I read a few days ago that mentioned something about deleting some 'temp' files thereby forcing XOOPS to rewrite them making some new changes effective....anybody remember what folder those were in?

Any other ideas....someone mentioned the dns server may be treating the www and non www differently, so, I'll probably check with godaddy since I'm not positive how to modify the dns server correctly.

Thanks guys, seriously, helping me with this is a huge help!!!!
