I have my site set up so that anonymous users should be able to see News, Blog, content, etc...but not actually submit or approve. However, even though the permissions for those modules are set properly, (visible to anonymous), if you click on a news post it requires you to login before you can read it? Please Please Please explain what's going on and how to fix it. I don't want everyone to have to register just to read it!!!

There is one possibility that I can think of:

1) when you set user permissions, you (logically) went to the News permissions page, clicked the appropriate check-boxes, and hit "submit" at the bottom of the page. It took me a little while to discover that to set each group of permissions (View, Submit, and Auto-Approve), you must:

a. click the appropriate check-boxes in the top group's box
b) then click the submit button under that box
c) wait for the page to reload
d) scroll down and set permissions for the next group, click submit
e) follow that routine again for the last group of permission.

I can't tell you how many times I've added a forum, calendar, or news category and forgotten to set the permissions correctly even though I could SWEAR I did it right the first time.

I double checked all permission categories and they are all correct right now. View permissions are set so all groups can see all news...but, it still asks the user to log in if you click on a news link to read it!!

Anybody else have any ideas?

Did you set Module Access rights for anonymus user to access the news module in admin - user - groups ?
