I just ran into the same problem about an hour ago... was working on setting up some things in smartfaq, went to eat dinner, and came back and I was forbidden to access admin lol. I came here to read on what might be the problem, and since you said the host fixed it, I looked at my files on my host end through cPanel, not FTP and just with a hunch, removed the .htaccess file temporarily... and Walla! no more problems... but I also decided to remove module Protector, because I have had more problems since I installed it than not, and it requires an .htaccess file in root to "greenlight" some of its requirements. As messed up as my site has been getting lately, I am better off taking the risk of being exploited and just backing it up again, than loosing everything because I can't even get in to work on things.

Shine,
Thank you for your valued input on my situation.
That does work for the icq# part, I just changed "Phone" in the language file to "ICQ#", and since the database will just see a number as a number wheather it is a phone or otherwise works too, so that was an ideal fix... good advice there. But for something like "location" I really don't need it, so an option to disable it or making it "not required like the other 2 new additional options for zip and email is what I am requesting. If I knew what files to add the lines of code to, I would just take the example of the 2 that already exist and just add to them, but I do not know exactly what files are involved in the making of the "optional" directives and I really do not wish to break the mod again trying lol. I am getting sooo close to the final adjustments to what I need, so any medaling by me not knowing exactly where I am doing it could be a time consuming headache.
Cheers to the language file changing for changing the option to something better to suit the users(my) needs though. I just don't need as many options as others might need.
Thanks once again for your constructive idea! It does simplify some of it a bit... just not all.

Ahhh I like some of the changes in CatAds 1.4

I love the fact that you can now make some choices on what fields are showing up on the submit form!! The options you can now control from Prefs are zip code and email... where you can show them, hide them, or make them required... sweet! This is kinda what I was looking for, but is there any way to add an ICQ# option in prefs, and do the same option selecting for town and ICQ#? If Cat was to cover those 2 other possibilities, I would be overjoyed! Keep up the great work Cat!!

Just to verify I did everything correctly:

One thing I noticed in your list that you may have missed was this:

2). Re-install the directory: modules/system/admin/tplsets for 2.2 again.

Take a fresh folder of tplsets and FTP it over the one on your server... THEN update the system module in admin :) If you already tried that but just didn't put it in your list then I am stuck

Hi Tim.

I just posted on the other link last night with a possible fix to your template issue.https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&topic_id=39135&forum=1
I got it to work and the things I did are posted on the end of that discussion. As far as all the other problems you are having, I would even try to go as far as telling you that maybe you should just upload the 2.2 system module folder to your server overwriting what is on there now, instead of just uploading the folder I mentioned in the other post, then updating in module admin. It Can't hurt to try
Good Luck! I hope at least I help you get the template thing working again.

Oh, and as far as you saving DB information, you can do that from within PhpMyAdmin, export the information as a text file, then once you have done a fresh install of your mods and XOOPS 2.2 you can always copy paste from the text file the information you need back in your database. Yes, I mean doing it manually, but it shouldn't be to hard. You can copy paste your exported information into the phpmyadmin query window and have the information inserted into the right places if you did your export correctly. Hope this helps.

Once again... good luck --- Jokes.

May as well add me to the list too!
I am working on it some tonite, so if I find anything that seems to work, I will be sure to post "my" fix

I got mine to work after about an hour of tinkering.

I just wrote the entire steps I took to try to fix it, and my post did not appear :( .
I really do not have time to do the long version again, but I will sum it up in a few steps as best I can here.

1). Save your DB before doing this.. just because it worked for me, does NOT mean it will for your situation. (do backup)
2). Re-install the directory: modules/system/admin/tplsets for 2.2 again.
--------------------------------------------------
3). Open your DB with phpMyAdmin to the xoops_tplfile table.
4). Browse the table and remove any erronious entries that exist from old mods (deleted ones).
4b). Remove all SYSTEM entries from the same table. (I found it easier to just browse that table, and sort by the tpl_module name to group them together.)
--------------------------------------------------
5). Clear out your templates_c directory in root folder.
6). Go to your module admin page and update the system mod.

7). Go see if your template admin area is back to some normalcy! You will probably have to generate templates again if you are using a custom set as I am. Most everything worked just fine after I did these steps.
Now time for bed!
Let me know if this worked for you as it did for me! Then I can finally say I made a decent contribution for a change to the community. I'm still a newb, but learning XOOPS more and more over time.

Good Luck! -- Jokes

Catads Module, Changing some of the form variables?

Hello!

I like the simplicity and ease of CatAds, for it suits my needs pretty well. I do not need a full blown ads software so it is perfect for what I use it for... The one thing I would like to do with it though, is to be able to change some of the form variables the user inputs for the ad.
Example: (which is what I actually want to change ;))
phone, location, and zip variables are not needed in the way that I use the module. What do I use it for you might ask? I use it as a tool for people who play an MMORPG, to be able to post in-game sales, wants, and trades of in-game items. There is no real money involved, nor do they need the phone, zip, and location fields. I have already changed it so that the fields are no longer "required", but I would like to use them in a different context... meaning change phone to ICQ number, location to the server the user plays the game on (dropdown list would be nice, but the field is really not even necessary, because my categories are actually the servers names for the trades anyways). And zip code, well, I don't really need that at all either lol. I guess the simple fix I need would be just to delete the zip and location fields, without breaking the script (which I did once or 2x already )
I guess the basic idea would be, to be able to completely remove zip, and location... and change phone to ICQ# ! That would sum it up in a nutshell.

Any help would be appreciated. I tried contacting the cat, but he hasnt gotten back to me in weeks, so maybe someone here can help.
Thanks!

xcGallery.. unable to upload .gif's using GD?

Hi!

My server uses GD2 for image handling, and as far as I know the types it is able to handle are .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, tiff, .png, but for some reason when I try to upload a .gif image to an album, I get an error message stating that "using the GD library, I can only upload .jpg or .png files".

Why would that be? Any help would be wonderfull. I can't see any reason in any of my settings that would not allow for .gif upload. And since probably about half the files that would go into the gallery would be .gifs, this is a real setback.

using xcGallery 1.1 with XOOPS 2.2Final with patch installed.
Server info... Linux server with Apache 1.3.33 PHP 4.3.11 MySQL 4.0.24-standard.

*note, this was happening before upgrading to XOOPS 2.2, happened on 2.0.10, and all other upgrades to the present one.

Is there a newer version of xcGallery?

Thanks for any help in advance!
