i managed to install XOOPS v2.2.1. status:

check path & URL
Physical path is correct.

The server path to your XOOPS root directory: C:/Domains/wongloong.net/wwwroot
URL to your XOOPS root directory:http://www.wongloong.net

If the above setting is correct, press the button below to continue.
[/color]

but i haf not created the C:/Domains/wongloong.net/wwwroot. does this refers to my computer serverpath? or the web host's ones?? anyways, i continued. all tables created. However, at the end, error msg came out:

Are you running IIS or Apache? If you are running IIS, you will need to give the IUSR_MachineName (MachineName being your computers name) MODIFY permissions. You will need to disable Simple File Sharing in order to set NTFS permissions - Open Explorer, go to Tools Options & go to the view tab. Now scroll all the way down to the bottom & un check Simple File Sharing.

I am using WinXP HomeEd.
What does 'chown' means and how to do that??

Your problem is likely SELinux if you're running a Red Hat type of distro.

To get around this, just chown apache mainfile.php

This should get you around the problem. Once it's updated, just chown it back to whoever owned it before.

I tried to install v2.2, status given:

Checking file and directory permissions..
Directory uploads/ is writable.
Directory cache/ is writable.
Directory templates_c/ is writable.
File mainfile.php is writable.
No errors detected.

Then, when I confirmed the submitted data, after filling all the db name..bla,bla, bla.. Error shown:

Saving configuration data..
Could not write into mainfile.php. Please check the file permission and try again.

What happened?? Used WS_FTPHome to upload, did CHMOD 777 to the respected folders & file [cache, uploads, template_c, mainfile.php] but as if there were no changes to the files.

Then, I updated to 2.2.1 , still give me the error message cant write into mainfile.php. pls help!!!!! What could I do wrong?

Thx!
