Hi,

I am still looking for some XOOPS savvy beta testers. got Artists, got writers, even got a few programmer types but still no one with XOOPS experience. Think you know your xoops? - great! I would love to see some suggestions from people that know the XOOPS platform!

Thanx,

Beta Testers needed for High Fantasy Web (xoops) Site

I need some Beta (Alpha) testers for a new Web site.

I am developing a new interactive web site in the Genre of High Fantasy.

This site will have a STRONG theme of artists and writers submitting their work for a number of contests. All stories and art will be set in the same mythical world and will be interrelated to each other.

Think damsels in distress, heroes, villains, demons, swords, magic, Elves, Trolls, Orcs and Dragons. Think Tolkien, Bradley, Brooks & Goodkind. Think EQ, WOW, DAOC.

Though the site will be initially Fiction and art, future gaming (RPG) elements are scheduled to be implemented.

This site will be different to anything out there!

I am looking for Beta testers (ok it will closer to Alpha testers) to provide input and suggestions for current and ongoing development. I am also hoping some of these Beta testers may be interested in being moderators when the site goes live (but this is not required).

Sorry no pay (cash), but I expect our Beta (alpha) testers will have a number of perks once the site goes live. We will talk about what those are in the Beta Tester forum.

I am looking for people that have a true love for High Fantasy… be that art, reading/writing, or Game play. If you have programing knowledge (not to do, but to comment/suggest) this is a nice benefit, but not required. If you are an author or artist, this is a definite benefit.

Note: This is on a modified version of xoops. I am no programmer and paid to have the modifications done... I am not a XOOPS expert - So I would love some experienced XOOPS administrators/developers as beta testers so they can make suggestions on how to better use the XOOPS platform!

The only “set in stone” requirements are that you:

1) You agree and promise to not divulge (to anyone) what you see or find out about the site until it goes live or you are told it is ok in the Beta testers forum.
2) You will spend some time on the site testing it and provide feedback in the Beta Testers Forum.

Beta (alpha) testing is expected to start sometime next weekend (July 1st) and will continue until the site goes live sometime in August. No specific time commitments are required. Simply do the best you can.

If you are interested please send an email to Arumbus-AT-yahoo.com.

In your email, please briefly tell why you think you would he a good beta tester for this project.

If selected I will reply and let you know - and provide a link to the site.

Please only those that seriously want to help mold a new internet phenomenon should apply. This is going to be fun guys!

Hi,

In an older XOOPS install I have (which I do not really use much and have someone else administer) was hacked

http://www.indiegameresources.com/e107/

Before I go into fixing it (or have someone as I am not much of a developer) can anyone let me know if this has happened to them... and point me in the right direction to fixing it.

Also, I am about to launch a new XOOPS site (curent build) - so I am a little worried about this happening again - if anyone know about this hack, could you let me know if the current build is better protected.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I am looking to pay someone to do some modifications to XOOPS for a interactive fantasy fiction (and digital art) web site. I would of course prefer someone from the community that is already very familiar with customizing xoops.

I posted the job request on Get-a-Freelancer. If you are interested, please follow this link:

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,

Very new to the XOOPS thing and I am not a programer (or at least not a good one). Regardless I am developing an Interactive fiction Site which will be based on a number of fantasy short stories I have written over the years. This will involve creating a fictional world with characters, places, diety, faction, lore... etc etc. It will also feature digital art based on the stories and legends (Rendered Poser type stuff). The site, of course, will be XOOPS based after quite a bit of research and playing around with varios CMS/portal type solutions.

The site will begin with my submission but will be structured in such away that contributors can add their own stories and art so it will become an ever evolving, growing world with many layers of complexity...

Anywho I am looking for some help to make the modifications I need to make this happen - I am willing to pay - I am not rich here so don't expect to retire on the work... but I definitely believe in paying (paypal) for good programming and hard work.

The way I have it planned most of the modifications will be the the AMS article module (which I am pleased with the initial funtionality) this will involve adding a number of field and having different display templates depending on what type of article (story) is submitted.

It will also involve cusomizing a template (warcraft2) or maybe designing on from scratch and creating some custom blocks.

Lastly (at least for now) will be to implement a image upload and display system which will display multiple images (most likly in the header) that are relationally linked to the individual articles (stories).

I expect that there is existing funtionality in the core (or other modules) that may be used - this is fine.

I can (and will) provide much greater detail to anyone that may be interested in working with me on this.

If interested please reply to this thread and/or email me at arumbus@yahoo.com

I would also welcome any ideas/comments any in the community may have for me.
