Haven't you seen the news message on top, that is syndicated to every XOOPS site??

Oh yes, the one that appeared overnight. About 24 - 36 hours too late. Yeah, I saw that. And I've posted my comments - cause there still seems to be some denial going on about the real issues here...

Oh... and look up the definition of spam.

OK...

spam v. n. To mass-mail unrequested identical or nearly-identical email messages. Any large, annoying, quantity of output.

Will that do you?

While sent with the best intentions, I'm sure, the quantity of emails, bounces, etc. consumed online resources (i.e bandwidth) and personal resources (i.e time looking at the emails).

I got around twenty-five XOOPS emails in a twenty-four hour period, which pumped my spam intake up by about 300%. I have surprisingly good filters, mostly, and don't pass my email out to people randomly - and giving it to XOOPS was one of those non-random acts. In return, I get these 'spam' messages and I now know the personal/business emails and phone numbers of about four people - which I'm sure they appreciate.

Yes... the reaction onsite has been a little aimless - but that has more to do with the fact that the apology is tucked down a level - you have to click the Christmas image to see the apology about the emails. A big, top-of-the-page apology for a couple of days would have been more fitting and more effective. So much for the flexible XOOPS CMS if you can't manage an extra centre block at the top with an apology in for a couple of days. If I have a site problem, I do just that - a very visible and honest apology.

Oh come on... are you saying that the XOOPS spam is something you're not in the remotest bit peeved about? Not even slightly?

You sign up to a site sometime in the past and then suddenly your Inbox starts getting pelted with random emails, bounces, out-of-offices and whatever else. I think a little slack needs to be given to the people who are troubled by this turn of events - just saying sorry on site isn't going to solve anything. The damage is done.

Not sure what the was about in the last post - as those ideas seem top to me.

I've been using another Nuke fork (myPHPNuke) and attempting to do the same for sometime. I've managed a partial rehash of the format of the user page and added the ability to upload a 'home' image as well as provided limited general image upload... but I have a great deal more work to do.

As it stands, I can't think why ANYONE would want to visit anyone else's user page with the current format in the various Nukes - including XOOPS.

The 'Editors Choice' seems good too - and could probably be managed quite easily. Perhaps add an extra field with either a 1 or a 0 in it. Have the 1 for Editor's Choice and then sort the list of links DESC in the SQL query for the list? Something like that.
