Hi,
I am new and need help with this. How do I add additional block sections in theme so I can activate it from the XOOPS admin =>blocks section to show up where I want. at the moment there is left block, center left block, center block, center right block and right block. I want to add may be a center top block. How can I easily do this?. Please explain in detail as I am a newbie..

If it is easier.. what I am trying to do is display the block news scroller. the script is in a block. I tried hard coding it into the theme and it does not work. I think it has to be shown in a block for it to work.

Thanks,
Ahmed.

I am using XOOPS version 2.0.9.2. it's the backend.php file version 1.13 that came with xoops. it already has this line below:

$sarray=NewsStory::getAllpublished(10,0);
The problem is with what stories it grabs. It's only grabbing stories that are published in the home section of the news module. It won't grab any other story. How can I get it to grab stories from all the sections of the news module?. do youhave the latest version of the backend.php file?. can you post the link for me to download it?. will this work for me?.

Thanks,
Ed.

Thanks Herve.. This is great news. I can't wait for the next release.. Also on another issue, it would be nice if the articles can be removed automatically from the news section once they have been archived every month. This way only the articles for the current month will be in the news section. This will be a great feature for the next version of the news module..

Any idea when this will be resolved?.

Hello,
How do I get the backend.php file that comes with XOOPS to show the very latest 10 news items?. I noticed that it is only picking the articles published in "Home" from the news module. I want it to select the 10 most recent news from all the categories in the news module. How can I do this?. Please explain and tell me what to edit. I noticed the javascript file backendjs.php is showing the latest articles from all the sections. Please help

Thanks,
Ed

Hi,
Does anyone know of a news ticker type applet that will display the news headlines from the news module?. I know a Java applet can do this but is there one that will work with Xoops?. Ideally it sould pull the news headlines from the news module automatically. Any help with this or if you can point me to a download will be appreciated..

Thanks,
Ed.

Hello,
IF someone out there has had this problem I would like to know what the solution is to fix this. I am running XOOPS 2.0.9.2 and News Module 1.3.12. Everything works fine. The problem is that one registerd user can edit another registerd user's news. I want only the original author of teh article to be able to edit it. I have a few topics created for the news. I think the problem is with group permissions. For example: I have a topic called "Local news". I have created two users and given both permission to the topic "Local News". Now when one user posts an article, the other user can log in and edit that article..

Please someone help.. can't find an answer for this..
Thanks.

Thanks ackbarr,
I have not reported this to the author yet. I don't know his email address.. I wish XOOPS had this feature for a user to post news and edit news just like in phpnuke. I know it's probably no that difficult to add this feature. Do you have a contact for Harve, so I can see may be he can help me?.

Thank you.
