This is a great hack, but I think that having support for COPPA in the XOOPS core would be a big benefit to users and a key differentiator in the marketplace.

COPPA (the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) is a big deal here in the US. Compliace with the Act is required for websites that are directed at children. Whether or not your site is directed at children is loosely defined.

Ideally, you would want to be able to enable/disable COPPA-compliance in the user registration process and provide a way to configure key elements like where parents should send/fax authorizations.

I know that phpBB has a COPPA element, but I haven't really looked deeply at how it is provided. I've already encountered at least one potential client who would need COPPA support and would love to see it included in the future.

Just my two cents.

I looked on dev.xoops.org and didn't see any reference to dotProject. Can somebody point me to the alpha if it does exist?

thanks

Have you tried integrating XOOPS with phpCollab? It looks like they used to support a XOOPS integration, but dropped it in the last release. The lead developer has pointed out that it isn't part of their charter to integrate with CMS. But that leaves those of us who need both a CMS and a projet management tool high and dry.

I would like to be able to let users register with their email address as their user name. Has anybody had any experience attempting this with XOOPS or is there a hack that will make it possible? I would rather leverage the expertise of the community before attempting it myself.

The user info pages are easy enough to change, but I guess we would need to change the functions that reference the user id to reference the email and then change the keys in the user table.

Or is there a better approach?

Thanks in advance

James
