Hi
I'm looking to make over a site we have in made in XOOPS. I've included an image of 2 things that I really want to have in the site.
1. An area where updated articles will appear in their respective areas - Today's Highlights, Entertainment, Travel etc. These should be either links or a brief intro to the topics posted.

2. A horizontal nav that could take viewers to pages within the site. The hor nav bar maight have a drop down menu within it.

I'd like suggestions of XOOPS modules that might be able to provide these capabilities. The picture include is of NineMSN - but if anyone can suggest better ways, I'm always happy to listen.

I only have a free account for testing purposes. I'm guessing you have a paid account.

Are they likely to help me when it's free???

I sorted our the permissions for mainfile.
It was, as expected, an operator error.

Thanks

There was a .htaccess file - but it was empty. I deleted it!!
The Internal Server error persists when trying to add an ad.

I uploaded all the files. It appears as though I'm the owner.

I've installed a new site with XOOPS 2.0.18.1, using Libervis Theme.

I have some experience with previous versions of XOOPS, so I'm not a complete noob. With both AMS and Catads, after attempting to configure and setup as much as I could work out, when I try to submit an article or an ad, I get this error.

Quote:
<h1>Internal Server Error</h1>
<p>The server encountered an internal error or
misconfiguration and was unable to complete
your request.</p>
<p>Please contact the server administrator,
webmaster@yeppoon.x10hosting.com and inform them of the time the error occurred,
and anything you might have done that may have
caused the error.</p>
<p>More information about this error may be available
in the server error log.</p>
<p>Additionally, a 404 Not Found
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.</p>

I still get a message Quote:
WARNING: File /home/yeppoon/public_html/mainfile.php is writeable by the server.
I tried to set it to 444, but in filezilla, it jumps back to 6444 when I'm done.

Any thoughts as to what I might have done wrong?

The site is hosted on free hosting for now athttp://yeppoon.x10hosting.com/

The template_c folder looks promising.
The files (over 400) have odd names - %%00^009^00945393%%db%3Asystem_block_notification.html.php

When I try to delete using filexilla ftp - I get an error.
550 /var/www/html/xoops/templates_c/%%7B^7BE^7BE7ACC8%%db%3Axcgal_footer.html.php: Forbidden command argument

How can I get around that??

Thanks Blue Stocking
I uploaded a new index.php file to /xoops directory, with the code shown in your post.
The file had permissions of 644. In fact the file on the server had the code in it.
I used shift+refresh, yet it still doesn't appear.
I also used debug mode as stefan88 suggested - no major errors there.

Thoughts??

Hi

I manage a site (http://www.maranoa.org.au/xoops/) and today I noticed the site was displaying just a white page.

Can anyone suggest a troubleshooting path to return the site to being active. I haven't done anything much to the site in a while - most changes require moderation.

Are there any logs to view what may have gone wrong with it.

I can access it via the user.php page.

All your suggestions will be welcome.

Hi
I find I spend way too long deleting SPAM from my website - a XOOPS site.
In particular through the "Yellow Pages" Module and AMS module I spend almost 20 mins each day deleting crap that has been submitted - the "yellow Pages" module is very slow to delete.

Nearly all modules are set up so they have to be authorised before going live, but it's time consuming, frustrating and annoying, sitting down deleting stuff, only to find more submitted while you're online.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to beat these guys who get their jollies submitting crap?
