Internal Server Errors

I've installed a new site with XOOPS 2.0.18.1, using Libervis Theme.

I have some experience with previous versions of XOOPS, so I'm not a complete noob. With both AMS and Catads, after attempting to configure and setup as much as I could work out, when I try to submit an article or an ad, I get this error.

Quote:

Internal Server Error


The server encountered an internal error or
misconfiguration and was unable to complete
your request.


Please contact the server administrator,
webmaster@yeppoon.x10hosting.com and inform them of the time the error occurred,
and anything you might have done that may have
caused the error.


More information about this error may be available
in the server error log.


Additionally, a 404 Not Found
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.



I still get a message Quote:
WARNING: File /home/yeppoon/public_html/mainfile.php is writeable by the server.
I tried to set it to 444, but in filezilla, it jumps back to 6444 when I'm done.

Any thoughts as to what I might have done wrong?

It can be you are not the owner of this file, did you upload the files self or is there a click installation from the provider? The provider should check the owner of the file, so you can modfify or chmod the files and directories. Can you see who is the owner of this file, example the apache?

I uploaded all the files. It appears as though I'm the owner.

Is there .htaccess file in root directory?

If so then delete it - it's not pat of a standard XOOPS install.

There was a .htaccess file - but it was empty. I deleted it!!
The Internal Server error persists when trying to add an ad.

basil, what showing the last column in filezilla owner? Your server user account name? You can try this and if that not works, something must be wrong with your rights! But be carefull and delete the file if you need it!

You need to ask your hosting company to upgrade your php level to the next lvl. I am with them myself and they are very strict in their application of PHP (What php can and cannot do).

I sorted our the permissions for mainfile.
It was, as expected, an operator error.
