Fixed it. It *WAS* an Apache issue. I needed to allow access to the subfolders in my XOOPS www folder, in the httpd.conf file.

Thanks for the help.

Dear All

I am running xoops2 (in an Xsas distribution) on Windows 2003 Server. I can access the website fine when I'm on the server itself, but cannot access it from the internet - I get an HTTP 403 forbidden error. I've run Apache fine on many other Windows platforms, but not on 2003 Server. IIS is not running on this box.

I've done a good amount of reserach on the web, but am striking a blank. I'm pretty certain it's not an Apache configuration issue, but rather a Windows permissions issue.

Things I've tried:

1) give the Network Service access to the xsas folder
2) give the IUSR_<machine name> account access to the xsas folder

Does anyone have any experience of running xoops2 on a similar system?

Many thanks to all who replied! Editing the mainfile.php file fixed my problem.

Apache on port 8081

Dear All

I am running Xsas on a Windows 2003 Server box. I have previously run my website, using Xsas, on a Windows 2000 box with no problems. However, on the Win2003 box I cannot run Apache on port 80 as that port is already in use. I have edited the httpd.conf file as follows:

(1) set the Listen directive so that Apache listens on port 8081
(2) added a VirtualHost directive as follows:
<VirtualHost localhost:8081>
DocumentRoot "/www/"
</VirtualHost>
(I know that this DocumentRoot is fine, because it worked okay on the Win2000 box).

Apache starts fine on port 8081, but the links on my site (which are links to other sections of the site, not links to external resources) don't work and the images are not found. I need some way of forcing all requests to have ':8081' added to them. I have trawled through the Apache documentation on Apache.org and even tried getting my head around mod_rewrite, without success. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?

Hi jandrwes

I had the same problem. I fixed it by editing the following MySql field:

<your site name>_modules.<your module name>.hasmain - set it to '1', not '0'.

If you don't know how to do this, download the phpMyAdmin module here - phpMyAdmin module

Good luck.

Clive

Good evening all

My question concerns the Contact module. When a user fills in the Contact Us form and an email is sent to the site admin, is the content of the form stored in the database? If so, is it possible to encrypt the form contents?

For some reason I seem unable to change the font and size of text in my website. My text displays like this:

Click here to see what courses are available, and when.some Courier text

My custom block html is as follows:

Click <a href="http://localhost/xoops2/modules/piCal/">here</a> to see what courses are available, and when.some Courier text

I think the problem is that the Smarty tags are not being read. Is there somewhere in the Admin module that I have to turn on Smarty tag support? I've had a look but don't see anything obvious.

Any pointers gratefully received.

Clive

Running XOOPS 2.0.6 through Xsas

Good day all

I have some text displaying on my Sections page that I want to get rid of. It reads along the lines of 'Welcome to the Special Sections at [name of site]. Here you can find some cool articles that are not presented on the homepage.' Can someone please tell me where I can edit this text? Do I have to edit the database record directly, and if so, please could you tell me the name of the table. I've had a good look at the database but can't find it. Otherwise is there some config option I can change?

Thank you.

Apologies m0nty, I mucked up the editing of the httpd.conf file. Now when I requesthttp://localhost, I get the XOOPS index.php file, which is great. It has also sorted out my linking problem getting to 'Sections' and 'Downloads'. All in all I'm a happy camper.
