NewBB 2.0 was slow ... 2.1 is even slower.

It's to the point now where it is ridiculous.

The system load on the machine is near zero, everything else is fast, even everything else on the XOOPS installation is fast ... but there's just something not right at all about newBB 2.0+.

Is it possible to downgrade from newBB 2.0 to 1.0? I hear that version is at least fast enough to use....

Hopefully someone will fix the speed issue in newBB sooner as opposed to later. People are starting to think that XOOPS is slow, when it's not, they just think it is because of the newBB module.......

From my experience, XOOPS is fast enough, but newBB is NOT fast enough. Many of you who are thinking that XOOPS is slow are probably experiencing what the rest of us are -- ridiculously stupid slowdowns in the bb module.

The XOOPS developers should take this seriously, because 1 badly written (but highly used) module is giving many people the impression that XOOPS is horribly slow.

I see that as well. Sometimes, seemingly at random, when opening a message the following will be seen at the bottom of internet explorer:

Loading (140 items remaining) and it counts down visibly.

These are normal text messages and don't have anything in them. I've tried reducing the number of images, etc., on all of the newbb pages, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. I think it's doing poorly-written database queries.

[edit] ... I saw the exact same thing here on this website after posting this message, except it was loading over 200 items instead.......

NewBB2 Smilies problem

When I initially configured the smilies on my website, they worked fine in newbb2.

Now, however, some don't work right. For some of them, it has changed the URL so that the picture comes up broken. For others, it has left the URL alone.

Here's the correct URL to one of the broken smilies:

http://www.hostinnovations.net/~admin51/uploads/smil41e093435cc7b.gif

For some reason, this is what newBB is putting there:

http://www.hostinnovations.net/~admin51/modules/newbb/http<img%20src=

Where the heck is this coming from, why is it only affecting some smilies, and how do I fix it? The smilies all look just fine in the database.

I've tried clearing the cache, rebuilding the base module and newbb module, and resaving the configuration for the smilies section and the newbb sections.....
