Hi..

I know there are similar problems on this forum but I can't see anything that answers my problem.

I wanted to change my user name for my site so contacted my webhoster. He changed it and since then the whole user menu has disappeared taking the log in menu with it, so I can't get in even as an ordinary user. I tried looking at FAQ and tried going to admin that way but am denied permission....

I'm probably going to have to re-install XOOPS but any idea why this happened or to stop it happening again?

Hi...

I want to be able to include links to pdf files within articles that I post on my site. I am a bit unsure how to do this as teh download section only seems to cater for downloads from website urls....

Obviously I would have to upload my pdf files to my site but to where and how would I link to them from within the site? The same applies to if I want to put in a link to another page on my site.

Thanks for any help on this...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm................

I am far from a net virgin lol.... but it is the first time I am using XOOPS and I do find that everyone takes things for granted when dealing with newbies.

I have ploughed through fax and searches and basically, I have problems with stupid simple things that you'all take for granted.. same thing happens when I contact my sever administrator...

There are a hell of a lot of people out here that are not internet stoopid BUT have just not ever got their heads round websites and code. Part of the proiblen is that whe they ever ask questions they get answers that are totally unitelligible..

Xoops is an excellent interface.. but to be honest, I only got on with it because I had been previously messing around with php. To the average punter.. XOOPS would be totally daunting.. which leads me to ask.. do you all create site developments to be only accessible to web cognisants ...

I wonder.....

OK

Am I stoopid or what..but when I go to view avatar there is no browse option? (I do know how to do this... I am just not seeing it on my screen?!)

I will peruse the fax .... I do admit to total impatience... and I had been very very VERY good in not asking questions for an awful long time... but just got fed up of going round in circles.. lol.

Deep breath.... much as it may annoy y'uall... I as a veteran of various internet sites, I do find this site daunting. OK.. I find all dedicated software sites daunting 'cos everyone assumes basic knowledge that the basic punter does not have. Consequently, one feels a total prat asking a straightforward question.

I do have a scientific background but still feel "out of it " on sites like this....

Hehe.. just an observation...

Well.....

Thanx for your reply!

First of all... I am a bit non-plussed by this forum cos you can't view the previous posts while you are in answer mode... hmmmm...

I did originally upload the theme as you suggested but it didn't work .... which is why I asked the question... the admin section asks for a tar.gz/.tar file and my down/upload is just not in that format?
