I always want the latest and greatest and then complain loudly if its not working
No seriouly, thanks for pointing that out, I had somehow forgotten that it was an RC version.
Is there a way to downgrade from 2.2.3 to 2.2.2 without ruining everything?

Thanks.
Stefan

Hi,
I'm using XOOPS 2.2.3.
I activated the Allow users to delete own account? option in Preferences, Extended Profiles, General Settings, but as a registered user (not from the admin group) I still can't delete my account.
If I click on 'delete account' in View Account, it tells me that "Sorry you do not have permission to perform this action!"

Any ideas?

Stefan

after some extensive searching in the forum I managed to fix the problem by updating the system module.
I'm not quite sure what caused the corruption though and it seems to be a fairly common problem judging by the number of existing threads.
The MySQL console also came up with a wf_tablesomething error. It might have been me uninstalling wfsections that lead to the problems.

Hi,
I don't know what I did to my XOOPS installation but for all of a sudden I'm having problems with Main Menu System block and custom blocks. Both blocks show, but no content is being displayed. So for Main Menu I get "Main Menu" but no Links/Buttons. For my custom blocks I get the name of the block displayed, but not the content, although the content is there if I click on the edit button in the admin menu.
I tried deleting and recreating the blocks but it doesn't help. I tried switching to a different template and it doesn't help either. I am 100% positive that the required user/groups permissions are set properly.

I turned on PHP,Mysql and Smarty debugging and here is what I get (I have no idea whether this is related to the problem or not):

Notice [PHP]: Undefined index: lang_inbox in file C:\webserver\htdocs\bizoppsadvisor\templates_c\%%22^222^222153D0%%db%3Asystem_block_user.html.php line 12

I cleared out the templates_c folder, but again no luck.
I would be very grateful if someone could help.

Hi,

I'm using wfsection 2.0.1 on XOOPS 2.2.3. I'm having some issues formatting an article. If I copy and paste an article the line breaks, line feeds etc. appear to be correct in the editor window. However, if I display the article it is without any line breaks. If I go back to edit the document, the line breaks appear in the editor window.
I have tried ticking/unticking the XOOPS linebreak conversion option, but as soon as I click 'modify' to submit the change it is changed back to being ticked. Is this normal?

Also I noticed that clicking on the Blocks Admin link in the wfsection administration results in a blank page being displayed. Is this normal?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

I'm having a strange problem trying to assing a moderator to forums created in CBB.
One some forums I managed to assign the user Webmaster (who has the user rank of webmaster) as a moderator. One other forums however I can't do that. When I click on the "list" button, then select the webmaster from the popup window and click the "add" button, webmaster appears in the moderator list. However, as soon as I hit the "submit" button and the page refreshes, the user Anonymous is assigned as a moderator again and webmaster is not in the moderator list any more.
Any ideas? Also, what happens if I leave the standard anonymous user as a moderator? Does that mean the forum would be open to be moderated by any unregistered user?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

I'm using the Topics Blocks Module on my website. I've just tried installing the Simplified URLs hack, but unfortunately Topics Blocks then doesn't seem to work as intended any more.
Before I installed the Simplified URLs hack, topics blocks would display the news of several categories on the front page. With the Simplified URLs hack installed, the news of only one category get displayed.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Stefan

I know that this has been discussed before and I know that there will possible be no definite answers, but I would like to throw in what I have found so far on the question as to whether changing the dynamic Xoop Urls to short, static URLs might have a positive effect on search engine results.
The problem I have with my little website athttp://www.thevital.net is that whilst the main page has a page rank of 5 out of 10 at Google, none of the subpages is getting indexed, not one of them.
My research so far has produced to contradicting answers:
1. In the Google help section it is said that you need to have incoming links to your subpages, otherwise Google won't assign a pagerank to those pages and will therefore not index them.
2. I sent an email to Google support and was told that, whilst Google is capable of following dynamic pages, only a small amount of them will make it into their databases, because they can cause problems for their crawler.

I've written to Google again, asking for clarification, as this seems to contradict the advice they give in their help section.

I am reluctant to apply the ShortUrl hack, trying to get it work, if it is not certain that it will help my pages to get indexed.

I will keep you updated on Google's response, but would appreciate your thoughts in the meantime.

Stefan
