Ackbarr;

I appreciate the great and quick help. That fixed it for me, I had it set up ashttp://localhost/xoops instead ofhttp://myipaddress/xoops.

The XOOPS team is awesome.

When my start page is set to 'none', outside users can get to the login page, albeit with no graphics, but when they try to login, they get 'connection refused'.

When my start page is set up as one of the modules, outside users cannot access my page at all, a 'connection refused' comes back.

I am using apache, and here is some excerpts from the error.log, if it helps:

Quote:
[Wed Nov 17 00:38:03 2004] [error] [client 70.241.76.106] File does not exist: /var/www/favicon.ico

favicon.ico does exist at my system at /var/www/xoops.

Thanks

Jerry

Here is a snippet from my apache access.log file:

70.241.76.106 - - [16/Nov/2004:05:23:26 -0500"GET /favicon.ico HTTP/1.1" 404 283 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0"

I see it 404 errors out, but its requesting /favicon.ico

Any ideas?

Thanks

Jerry

When I go to my site remotely, the main page doesn't show any graphics at all, just placeholders. Also, I cannot sign in, I get "Page cannot be displayed" while using IE 5, and "connection was refused" when trying in Firefox 1.0.

I can navigate to my 'home' page fine (iehttp://localhost/) but find the problems above for (http://localhost/xoops/) (I am substituting my IP address for localhost).

I am runnig Apache, and I suspect the problem 'may' be with my settings in Apache. I have tried adjusting the httpd.conf file setting /www/var/xoops as my 'documentroot', but no luck.

Any help out there?

Thanks

Jerry

Thanks for the help brash, I looked into the various conf files, and I found the problem. In case there are others out there, here is the fix.

In your config file httpd.conf you will see the following:

<blockquote> IfModule mod_dir.c

DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.shtml index.cgi index.php
/IfModule

</blockquote>

Make sure to add index.php at the end.

(This is for apache)

when I do go to 'mywebsite' (iehttp://localhost/), it opens up the index.html file. For some reason, athttp://localhost/xoops/ it will not open up index.php

I will look further into it and solict others who may have an idea.

Thanks for the help

I may have banged up my installation of xoops, but it is working now. The problem I have is when you go to my website (so far, justhttp://localhost/xoops) I get an index of XOOPS folder, not the index.php page opening up to my site.

Obviously I don't want webusers going to my site once its up, and seeing a list of my files instead of my website.

How can I fix this?

I tried searching for a fix for this, but didn't even know what exactly to search for.

Thanks

Jerry
