Mayday - Mayday! Slight login problem

Well, I seem to have gone one better than "OMG - OMG I can't login", although not on my operational site just my local one.
I was trying to move the log in box from the front page to the members page in "blocks - login - edit". Clicked update and now can't login as all I get on the front page is "Home". I've tried going to "mysite/user.php" but just get the same, "admin.php" give the usual "you can't access this".
My next move is a complete re-install of Xoops?

Thanks Brash, I'd had the files to be downloaded in that directory and was getting the error mentioned, on looking closer I discovered I'd missed the end of my tld out - AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh!! - works fine now, thank you.

How do you set this module up? my readme file is in chinese/japanese. I've tried puting the download files in "files" in the module and in other places but no matter where they go I keep getting "page not found" when "download now" is clicked on. I've searched the forum and can only find 1 reference, and that was someone asking a similar question (no replies).

e.g. showing in the address bar - "http://www.mysite/modules/wmpdownloads/visit.php?cid=1&lid=1" - page shows "The page cannot be displayed"

Sorted it by dumping "stories" and "topics" from the db, removing news module completely, re-installing it and writing backup sql files to the db. I now have all 11 templates working.

I followed the "readme" and actually deleted all files and regenerated them except for the 3 which wouldn't (see previous post). The missing ones exist in the news>templates folder but won't regenerate.

Help!! No news stories are appearing when selected from the drop down menu, the stories are still there, I can read and edit them in admin>news>edit. What's happened?

Thanks, I found 1.2.1. The instructions showed there should be 11 templates, I've only got 8, 3 have the yellow line and when I try to generate, it shows "Selected file does not exist)". I've tried browsing for the html file in the news > templates dir and uploading, - message "Template file news_by_topic.html does not need to be installed (PHP files using this template file does not exist)"
The module, however, seems to be running ok and showing all stories so far.
Wot now Gandalf? Is it ok without the template files.

I'm using news 1.1,
1)in "post/edit news" is there any way find a news story's ID so it can be edited without having to dive into the database.

2)is there any way to increase "last 10 articles" to say 20 at a view?

I'll get this working yet!
