I want to add a state variable on the server that persists with the session. e.g. user sets $currentMonth variable on one page, then when visiting other pages in the module, data will show for that month.
How is this done?

I want to add 100 new users and then add them to a group. It would be nice to be able to execute a batch file of SQL commands.

Does anyone have a safe example of how to do this? Or are there tools out there? I haven't found anything in searching and I'm nervous about experimenting in the database.

I'm trying to create my own block with links to a php file to put up brochure pages e.g. pages.php?page=welcome. Clicking on the link causes the block to disappear with the rest of site intact. Why?

Thanks for the tip on enabling the debugger. You were right that the template directory was messed up - the group write bit wasn't set correctly. I did initially have the forum working, but was doing repeated module installs/uninstalls.
Anyway it's working now. Thanks.

I can't get the forum module to display at here. I've added categories and forums underneath and forum appears in the menu. I've reinstalled a few times and upgraded. What am I missing?

Graphics had come back, because before your post I was messing with my DNS records and everything was sent to my IP address; the site past the front page was still hosed - couldn't login.

I just now got this working and understand more about DNS and forwarding and masking.

Problem was that I had set up a forwarding record at my hosting site (which has my domain and www site) instead of an A record. It had nothing to do with my XOOPS install.

I was thrown off because when trying out Mambo I had the same graphics problem, but fixed it by chmod 777 certain directories.

This site (my site) is missing the graphics when accessed from the Internet, but when accessed from inside everything is fine.

What is wrong? Seems all the relative links are wrong.

define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://community.soundview.org');
The site is sitting in a DMZ. I can access it fine from inside with both internal/external IP addresses.

Which of

Benoit's changes

are still needed for v2.07 to get XOOPS to display (www.site.org) on both extranet and intranet; my server is sitting on a DMZ. Are any of these changes going into v2.09?

What is the reason the website text appears, but without graphics.

Alan
