I have been working on and off with this problem because it is so frustrating. I have decided to try and upgrade the backup copy of my website which was XOOPS 2.03 all the way up to the most recent patches for 2.07. I figure this must have been the biggest problem I was having after re-uploading my site since it wasn't working.

Right now, I cannot access the admin panel even though I type in my sitename, the XOOPS directory and then type admin.php. It says I don't have access to that and redirects me to the main page, which is actually just a listing of the files. It's just an index directory. Any idea what may have caused this, or how to remedy this? =\

Well I have tried copying all the directories and so far it's not working. I am going to try messing with the main.php to see if I can fix it, but right now I am getting an error that says ::

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/sirensb/public_html/xoop/mainfile.php on line 39

I assume that means I have a $ somewhere it's not supposed to be?

Would anybody have any suggestions on what I need to remove?

Thank you for any information you can point me to, in advance =)

I have tried looking up information on how to restore my site from a prior backup but I really am not having much luck understanding the information I have found. I would like to understand the steps I need to take to restore everything, but I don't know anything about mysql. =(

My troubles started when my server kept crashing and my host decided to buy a new server and transport all data to that. Somewhere in the transfer process, something got majorly screwed up and I couldn't access our site at all.
I tried following the directions in the post found here, but was unable to resolve my problem.
Long story short, I uninstalled XOOPS from an option in cpanel on my site, and then reinstalled. The original XOOPS format is now accessable.

What I would like to do is restore my site from a backup I did before the crash occurred. Is this possible? I did try to restore from backup through my cpanel, but nothing will change on my new XOOPS site. I am also unable to post any news onto the new XOOPS site.

Could the problem be the fact that my site was on a prior version of xoops, and my host has got a new version running?

Thank you so much for that, It worked perfectly. Then I started getting the same msg that the original poster was getting hehe..

I figured it was my host, but I had to be sure. It was. I deleted XOOPS and the MySQL files and reinstalled it. Now the XOOPS platform works. I will do more research to see if I can restore my old site from the backup copy I made =( Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions, You're a lot more helpful than my webhost. ;)

Oh dear.. now it seems my website has gone crazy. When I load my page, I get these messages from the admin.php and from my main site.. I don't know what happened!

Does this mean the original problem from before is gone? =\ Or is this just futher result of theproblems..? In my infinate wisdom I had hoped that upgrading the version of XOOPS that my website ran from would fix some problems. But I think I was wrong.. Please tell me there is a way that a moronic girl like me can fix this. -.-

Oh my gosh, I am having the same exact problems.. It started when my host bought a new server and transferred my site, and nothing has worked since Friday. It has been almost a week. =( I am very upset and want to fix this immediately. Can anyone help me with this same problem? I am modifying my information as the post above has explained, but what is the XOOPS Database name exactly?

I have had her check security settings in her browser and her trusted sites and everything else. She used a computer from school and was able to access the site perfectly. She doesn't understand what a firewall is so she can't tell me if she has one or not lol..
I really don't know what to tell her. I have checked her browser version with her.. she is using Win XP though, which has a built in firewall right? She says she's never had a problem posting to a board before now though. I checked to make sure I didn't do something stupid like block her IP address. Everyone else is working just fine.. she works fine from another computer. just not hers.
Can someone tell me where I could possibly get information on how to check her firewall?

My friends and I have started using my XOOPS page and they are adoring it's functionality =) There is one problem, however, a user is having, that I don't know how to correct. Everyone is able to post to the Forums except for her. When she tries to post a message, it tells her it cannot be added to the forums. I have logged on to her user name and have posted sucessfully. She still could not.. I deleted her from the system and had her re-register -- she still cannot post. I suspect it may be a browser setting. Can anyone please give me some insight so she can be an active member of our community?

Oh Good!! Glad to hear that.. I don't know anything about your old version of Xoops, but the one I use has a path that the .swf XOOPS original banner is in, I was going to suggest putting it there :: Xoops> Images > Banners . Glad to know it worked out!!
