Hi

Well the title says it all.

I installed everything. Got green lights. Loggedin OK and in the administration section i can do pretty much everything BUT.... i can't get to 'preferences'. The system just points me to the default page with a menu "Avatars-Banners-Blocksetc" on it.

Simular problem with "Smileys". But here it gives me just a white page...

Anyone got a suggestion? Did something went wrong with uploading??

Thanks in advance,
Jeepster

PS: have a nice new year everyone !!

Hi Kaliman,

I am not sure if i understand you.

Users from outside access my webserver at 82.161.108.88 (because I don't have an domeinname).

So what do i put in the hosts file as an extra line?

127.0.0.1 82.161.108.88
OR
127.0.0.1 computername_within_LAN
OR
...?

I know the first option doens't work.

Thanks,
Jeepster

I am trying to make the right change to my hosts.txt file.

Someone wrote here:

Could also simply have a hosts file pointing to the internal IP.

In de hosts.txt I find one line which goes
127.0.0.1 localhost

What do i put on the second line (because I don't have a domeinname, I will comunicate my site tot the outsideworld with just my ip address 82.161.108.88 )?

Thankz,
Jaap

Hi,

I have XOOPS running on my personal server (my own PC, WindowsXP, fixed IP adress, Apache, PHP and MySQL)

It all works GREAT when I look at my site from my own PC at home. But when i go my XOOPS site from another PC (say, at work)I just see a blank page. --> THE PROBLEM

I tested and i can see plain (non XOOPS) html-pages on my server, but NOT the XOOPS pages.

I have my Windows XP firewall switched on (port 80 for html and i also added port 3306 for MySQL). Is that correct?!?

I guess I am not able to talk to my database when I access my site from an external location (say at work).

Please help me; because what is a portal with only ME as an audience?

Thankz in advance,
Jeepster
