I am very new to Xoops, like two weeks. Our site sucks, we need help, I really like the RH site, nice job guys. If anyone could help me with our site please drop me a line here or in our forums after you check it out. We need a decent theme but I have no time to learn how to make them yet. We have 3 major problems with XOOPS so far. The first being the theme.

Second, our shoutbox (which has now been shut off due to this) seems to have some sort of cache or something, when we turned it on it typed fine, but then someone replied and it was my username as well, I log out and he types again... still my name! Who knows ? lol

Third, the profile is at the top of the top page, can't get rid of it! We went to admin panel, settings, preferences, general settings, we set the start-up module to EVERYTHING but it didn't change anything?

Our hosting company only allows one ftp account to us and it is complete access. We clearly can not give people this account. We are looking for a module that would allow file uploads and downloads directly to the server without granting access to any other folders/files. Does anyone know of anything?

We even tried using the photo album but it only accepts images.

OK the problem continues, the admin was logged out for several hours, when I went back in I seen a post by another user with his member name properly displayed.

I then typed 'it works?' into the shoutbox and then hit shout, my message then showed up as that members post and not my name. Please we really wanna get this fixed so that we don't have imposters posing as someone else.

So nobody else has their user profile displayed on the top page for some mysterious reason?????

So let me not misunderstand this thread.... For each individual module we will simply start a topic on it, and everyone reply with their knowledge until we have it explained completely? If not please edit or remove this post ;)

We needed a way for our members to upload/download files for 'collabrative' reasons. The problem is we only had 1 FTP account...The admin account, needless to say we can't give that out to all our members. After much searching and some great help we found the UPLOADER module.

It took a little adjusting but works perfectly, all private members can upload files from their computer to our designated /file/ folder. After the file is uploaded all registered members of the site can view and download these files. Nobody has access outside of the single /file/ folder. Only admins can delete the files once posted.

Another great feature of the module is an 'auto-pruning' to keep your web space in check. It is working great users can even give a rating on the files they download.

During installation adjust in the config.php file your needed settings, for upload size limit we set ours to 99mb. Also the most important thing to consider when installing is that your designated shared folder has at least a 755 permission setting on the host, we use a 777 setting to be sure. The path needs to be proper as well. Without the path you will get your beautiful white blank page.

In our newly installed shoutbox all users have the same name... One of the webadmin's name..... Please please help.

For question 1...:

News module was selected as my start, so i switched... went through them all. Same thing, it shows a HUGE table below login logout avatar buttons with all my profile information. That is what I am trying to get rid of?
