I agree !
Going through the code of the original pm module it was more difficult to adjust it to my needs, so I wrote another pm module. It does take into account users assigned to groups and actually updates messages realtime (likee.g. What's up).

The core of Xoops gave me plenty of handles/tools to accomplish this.
Since I made it for a customer that paid me, I can't share it with you guys. But for a developer it is fairly easy to accomplish.

Those sound like Module issues and not core issues... Core provides permissions but the module has to actually use them.

I agree it should be build in. On the other hand it is very easy to do this and for me it's actually handy to have two separate themes.. one for desktop and one for mobile (you could even make more, like e.g. for tablets).
This is because the desktop versions have around 70% more content (for the websites I had to make) and with a separate theme for mobile I'm more flexible as to what to include.

Well.. one small reason might be the fact that Google dislikes non-clean and unreadable urls ?

Hi!
Just built the largest XOOPS site I ever made. But with an expected 500000+ users end-of-year I would like for someone with excellent xoops knowledge to have a look at the website and share any thoughts and or find stuff that shouldn't be there :)
I'm not at liberty to share the website in public as yet, but the request has been made. It offers many addons specifically written for the website and thus for xoops.
Things like :
- stripe payment gateway
- facebook/google/twitter and other social network login and registration
- replacement of the PM module by a more What's up/skype kinda style messaging
with realtime updates and no popup.
- custom template driven registration
- complete themed publisher
- and 200+ hours more enhancements :)

It is at the point of going live and would really appreciate if someone could perhaps find vulnerabilities ?
If you have the time, and will, drop a replay and I'll pass on details.

Thanks!
Charly
