Hi,

Unfortunately these seem to be very poor modules - just search for either of them on the site and you'll see that in the forum and comments they both have problems and just dont work properly. Google brings up security vulnerabilities.

I'm just looking for a basic quiz module integrated with XOOPS that allows you to add questions to the database, allows multiple answers (to allow for variation in spelling) and keeps some sort of hall of fame. It should work properly and not introduce vulnerabilities into the site security.

Thanks,

amok

What do you mean by Secure and functional, both of those should work fine and are pretty secure.

And what exactly are you looking for? and what do you want to use it for?

Hi all,

For about 1 year now I've been searching for a secure, functional Quiz module for xoops. So far, neither Quizz or MyQuiz meet that description. Does anyone know of a good quiz module ?

Thanks,

Amok

Hi,

Does anyone know if these security issues have been fixed ? If so, where can the module be downloaded from ?

Thanks,

Amok

*bumpy*

sorry, anyone have a fix, even if quick & dirty ? I should add that I have all modules set so that an admin has to approve comments.

Modules Im interested in getting notification on are:

wfsections
xfsections
mydownloads

Thanks,

amok

Thanks Mith for explaining.

I am confused about a couple of things.

1) What about modules that don't use templates and/or don't have a header.php ? Am I right in thinking they are not affected by this problem ? Or does that mean they are not able to be cached ?

2) Do I only have to change the header.php file in each module (where it exists) ?

Thank you,

amok

Mithrandir,

Thanks for your clear explanation, I appreciate it. Can you hazard a thought as to why my bandwith has increased so much, even though traffic remains at similar levels ? Nothing much has changed, except now Im using XOOPs.

Thanks,

amok

With Lunarpages, you are limited to 50 concurrent SQL connections, so peristant connections are definately a bad idea.

Good question,

I have recently moved my site to XOOPs. My bandwith usage has increased TEN TIMES. I went from about 30mb a day to 300mb a day. At this rate, I am going to have to move to a different hosting plan before the month is out !

I understand module-wide caching would help ? But it doesnt seem to work unless you add code to every file in every module. I hope this is something the dev team can fix.

Thanks

Amok

Hi,

Yes Draven, great find, thanks.

It would be more efficient to release a fix/change to how module-wide caching works rather than have everyone go through every module and change every file.

Is this something possible for the core team ?

Thanks all,

amok

Comments Manager - email notification for new comments ?

Hi,

Is there a hack/fix for comment manager that will notify the admins (email or pm) when a new comment is posted ? Right now I have to go into comment manager regularly, whereas all other updates to the site we get a notification for. This is really inconvenient.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks guy,

amok
