Re: News modules shows nothing in 2.0.7.3

No it's not an upgrade. It's a fresh install.

I've posted my first news item and I can see it under the Administration Menu->News->Post Edit/News but not when I go to http://mysite/modules/news, not as admin nor as registered user or anonymous!!! How do I fix this?

headlines block location different for different groups

I want to have the headlines block appear in the center for anonymous users, but on the left for a registered user. How do I do this in 2.0.7.3?

UREGENT: deleted /tmp/mysql.sock by mistake!!!!!!!

I inadvertently issued rm /tmp as root and thus mysql.sock was destroyed. Therefore, I started getting this error even after I restarted the mysqld:

This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

If you are the administrator of this site, please visit the XOOPS Troubleshooting Page for assistance.

Warning [PHP]: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in file

-----
Why is php looking for /tmp/mysql.sock while my daemon is creating it in /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock?

How do I recreate the socket in /tmp?

-----

Therefore, I did killall mysqld and /etc/init.d/msyqld start and the process started and I was able to do

mysql -u root -p

and issued 'status' and got

mysql Ver 12.21 Distrib 4.0.14, for pc-linux-gnu (i686)

Current database:
Current user: root@localhost

Current pager: stdout

Howto upgrade from 2.0.5 to 2.0.7.x?

What is the procedure to updgrade from 2.0.5 to 2.0.7.x?

I've backed up the DB and the current public_html directory if I copy all of the contents of the new html to public_html XOOPS thinks it a new install and not an upgarde. How shall I procede?

Admin or webmaster message, how

Is there a module to put a message by the admin or webmaster on the webpage, independent, of course, of the news module? I need this to appear on the main page and on top of let's say the news module.

your answer is not so difficult, just do a little search as i did:

http://www.yoursite.com/modules/system/admin.php?fct=groups

use that link and update all your groups and permissions...don't change the permissions, just click on the groups you have and then the submit button.

but when I do that I get this error:

Selected module does not exist!

but

http://mysite/admin.php?fct=groups

does'nt show the groups
