Confused with themes and templates

How do I apply these templates to my xoops site ?

they have a download file for each templates and i just don't know how to make it work on my site?

i've just used the html editor in cpanel...

What editor do you recommend?
I don't really see why it gives error, the changes i've made were just merely replacing span words...
how do i edit this?

Smarty Error!!!

I got this error after i made some basic changes in my theme.html file

Error : Smarty error: [in /home/presentd/public_html/themes/XDScheme/theme.html line 2]: syntax error: unrecognized tag: $xoops_langcode}">" lang="<{$xoops_langcode (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 446)

here's the sitehttp://presentdaytech.com/ to see what the error looks like...

the changes i've made were just changing links like # to a live link.. and changing image file...
I simply plugin something, not doing anything with the codes..

please help..

i'm using XDSCHEME theme...
what i'm confuse about is how do i create pages?

it's still dummy and the links are just pointed to #..

I think there is no problem with the PHP version..
because i've just installed xoops and it was checked on the installation...

I got this error fatal error 'XoopsSystemCpanel' not found in /home/presentd/public_html/include/cp_functions.php on line 28

i'm using xoops 2.5.5.....
please help!!!!
