im using a free webhost, i had a hard time finding one that wasn't slow as hell ftp transfer, and it was advertised as free email accounts, but they dont offer them. so there's my main problem, i havent put a site to gether in a few years, use to be pretty simple and strait forward(i used phpnuke). i decided to try a different cms for this site just to learn, and it seems no matter where i turn i run into some sort of issue. if anyone knows of a decent free webhost that hosts mail accounts, i would be happy to change hosts, before i start puttin content and work into the site.

tried that too still says im attacking the site. can i not upload them thru ftp, would be so much easier and hassle free?

i'm getting this issue when i try to do a lost password email request.

ok, i setup my smtp server to use yahoo's smtp server with my yahoo mail account credentials.

for some reason it errors with this: "The following From address failed: xxxxxxx@yahoo.com". now the from address its giving me, is my yahoo mail address.

is there another free smtp server to use, that you guys know of that won't give me any errors? that will 100% work on xoops.

unless i set it up wrong, heres a ss of my setup.

as i stated in my first post it does not work, it says it has detected an attack and will not let me upload to it.


wich is why i want to know where to put them so i can upload them, via ftp client.

version: newest one up for download, just installed yesterday.

hi, im a new xoops user and was going to add custom avatars for my users but i dont know where they go, i tried the uplad thing in the admin panel, but it says protector detected an attack, and i cannot upload.

i have an ftp client that i uploaded all the other xoops stuff with, i tried putting them in /htdocs/modules/system/admin/avatars but they didnt show up in the avatar list so i assume that wasnt the correct dir.

where do i upload them to?

not sure what was wrong but it deffinatly had something screwy all the paths seem fine now, i uninstalled and installed the newest version manually. the previous was a server side auto install script.
all is well now, thanks for taking the time to help.

yea i noticed that too, im not sure whats up with that. i been looking around to try and fix the link, will check the mainfile. i couldnt find anything, i deleted the install and am tryin a newer version.

hi all, i just installed 2.3 im a first time user of xoops, im familiar with phpnuke. anyways I nor anyone else can creat a user account. i did some reading in the forums and it sounds like i dont have the permisions right for the profile block or something like that. i looked thru the options, nothing jumped out at me as wrong. any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
