Hi, just a follow up post to say thank you to everyone who helped me out in this thread.

I'm now up to 2.0.9.2 and Newbb 2.02 with no major heartache.

Just sorting out a small Newbb 2.02 problem (see this thread) but otherwise everything is running great.

Oh and for some reason the timed redirects after logging in and logging out no longer work. I always have to 'click here' to continue.

Thanks again!

I've recently upgraded my XOOPS 2.0.9 install from Newbb 1 to Newbb 2 (2.02). Everything seems to be working fine except the drop down menus.

Where you would normally have things such as Main Options, Rate Thread, Search Forum, View Mode etc as mouseover/drop downs, mine are already all expanded (and ugly!).

You can see what I mean here: http://squadwars.org/modules/newbb/

So what have I cocked up exactly?

Wow, very helpful tutorials. Thank you kindly sir. I'm one of those people that loathe ever thinking I might need a flash tutorial (for anything ;)) but those were very nicely done and tailored well for all levels of experience.

I'd have this update done but my host has changed the way I can access my MySQL db and I haven't been able to get a recent copy.

I remember when I used to use php-nuke there was a module of some sort that allowed a MySQL db backup to be made from within the site itself. Does such a think exist in module form for Xoops2?

Doh, I'm a goose, I missed page two which had the 2.0.6 to 2.0.7 update on it. Thanks :)

Given I'm using newbb (that ships with Xoops) I'm guessing I'm right to just apply the updates as is. I am however interested in migrating to newbb2, is there a guide or website that might help me with that?

Hi all. I've had a XOOPS site for over a year now, but haven't done any upgrades since 2.0.6.

How do I get from 2.0.6 to current? I can only see upgrades from 2.0.7.

Also, my site is running the original XOOPS 2 forum module, is there something better out now? Can I migrate to it without losing what I have?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for the advice guys, though it turned out to be a counter block I had installed!

Not sure why it stopped my whole page from working, but simply making the block non visible cured the problem. Very odd!

For info the counter is this one:

Many thanks to Jan Koetze (http://www.koetze.net) for his help solving a big problem

I run a site based on XOOPS at http://squadwars.org and for the last two days it hasn't been working at all. That is to say the XOOPS component isn't working, the main page is completely white.

I can still access all areas of the site, I can display a test index.html for instance, but my previously working XOOPS (2.0.6) site is dead.

I haven't changed a thing for this to happen, I am completely stumped. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cheers,

Jesse.

Thank you, I just commented out those lines and it worked well. Cheers.

I would still like to be able to modify the timestamp format, but I guess that will affect the timestamp thoughout the forums right? I only want to change it in the block.

Problem with private forum block - drops last post info.

Hi all,

I've recently switch my forum blocks to side by side (center block left and center block right) for my public and private forums. To save lateral screen space I selected "Display in full size" to "off". This drops the "Forum" and "Views" columns, which is fine by me.

Anyway, to get to the point... for the private forum the "Last Post" column is empty. This happens only for the private forums, no matter where the block is, and only when "Display in full size" is set to "off". Unfortunately this is the option I need to keep my site displayable at a min of 1024x768. See below for the problem:

Resized Image

You can see clearly what I mean here. Also of note is that the colour of the column headers is different. See the shot below for how it looks when "Display in full size" is set to "on".

This would be ok except the overall width is far too much.

While I'm asking for solutions, what would I need to hack to alter the date info in the "last post" column. I'd prefer a simple "dd Mmm" with no time.
