1. Make a full MySQL database backup through the cPanel control panel, when you login into your web host cPanel account.
2. Try deleting the news folder from the main modules folder all together. You will not loose the news content you posted. All the content is in the MySQL database for XOOPS, so you should not have a problem.
3. Try going to your website again, and see if you can log in. If you get an error message. Try to login, by entering your domain name, and the followed by /admin.php.
4. If the option 3 fails, then you may need to delete the full XOOPS folder all together with modules, etc... from your website, then re-upload the same exact XOOPS version to your website, and then use the same exact MySQL database and user login information to identify the database for installation. Note: use the same exact prefix for the database too, or it will not work.
5. They should be more options available to fix this, such as trying to undo the editing to which ever file you edited. Or most important, if you custom edited some file, you should have made a backup of that original file before custom editing. Therefore, deleting the custom edited file, and uploading the original file into the same exact location may fix the problem.
6. If everything fails, atleast you still have the original MySQL database backup of your XOOPS website to restore the database from.
Thank you very much.
