Didn't realise there was an option in the module to give a 'Homepage Title' different to the ACTUAL hompage link. So rather than my users seeing \\servername\folder1\folder%20Two etc, They just see 'Home Folder', although I have to ensure I place %20 in the actual link.

Thanks anyway guys.

I hadn't, no, but I have now, and that works a treat - thanks a lot. My only problem with it is that the %20 show up in the actual hyperlink, but I can live with that.

Do you happen to know of a setting in IIS that can deal with spaces though before I go and manually change all of my links?

Cheers mate

Hyperlinks with Spaces Not Rendering Properly in IE

Hi everyone

Quick question...

Hyperlinks from an XOOPS module leading to an area on my Windows 2003 Server? If the path has a space in it, is there any way I can configure IE (or IIS?) to deal with the space?

Basically, as it stands, I have a hyperlink like :

\\servername\folder1\folder2\folder with a space\folder4

being rendered in IE as

\\servername\folder1\folder2\folderwithaspace\folder4

and thus getting a 'Page Cannot be Displayed.

We have IIS6, W2&3 Server, XOOPS 2.0.7 using the WF Dowloads module version 2.0.5.a. I have posted a forum question on their site too and I'm sure they will have the answer, but in the meantime I thought I'd check here to save time.

Is it an XOOPS issue? Is it a module issue? Is it an IIS6 issue? Is it a Windows 2003 Server issue?

Any ideas guys (come on - dig deep!!)

Hi

I can't download version 2.0.5 of WF Downloads. I keep getting

"This file doesn't belong to the site you came from.

Please e-mail the webmaster of the site you came from and tell him:
NOT TO LEECH OTHER SITES LINKS!!

Definition of a Leecher: One who is to lazy to link from his own server or steals other peoples hard work and makes it look like his own

Your IP address has been logged."

Any ideas? I've tried getting it via this site and the wfSections site. Is there another place I can get it? I notice it says it will be avaiable soon on Sourceforge, but no trace, and other people seem to have already got it from somewhere.

Please help. Thanks

Thanks fellas. That fix thread looks useful, but if a new release is due that fixes it as part of the module I'd prefer to use that to avoid any problems in the future with system upgrades or modifications etc.

On the subject of the new release, having checked the wfsections website it appears that 2.0.5 has not yet been released. I assume everything did not go to plan?

Any ideas of the release date? If it is going to be a while yet then I might give the hack a go.

Thanks very much for your help guys.

Does anyone know whether any more work has been done on addressing the automatic placement of 'http://' at the start of new inputted download links?

David (the previous poster) has been very helpful and assured me that a workaround has been looked at by Liquid, but that was about a week ago, and I've not heard anything since, but he did say it was easy enough to change.

The trouble is that because I can't input downloads into the XOOPS system (I've got all the catergories in place ready) it is holding up the development of our site enormously and I'm really getting stick for it!! If anyone knows which areas of the module to change just for now) to get round this please could they let me know (preferbly by PM because I'm working away at the moment and don't always get quick access to Internet)? I tried changing the http:// string values in the module to the default server name (\\servername) but I just messed the module up, so put it back to normal for now.

Thanks guys

Thanks guys. There's a few ideas I can be going no with and perhaps I'll draw some of those into it. Its a forensic computer team working in the law enforcement arena. I found one on the net the other day (the link is at work and it escapes me currently) but the word was a mystic one meaning 'the coming together of minds'. I'll probably use that.

Xoops Security and Encryption Levels

I'm currently writing an essay on encryption, and it made me think about my XOOPS site.

In brief, what is the XOOPS security policy? I've read a bit about MD5 encryption been in use. What level of encryption is used (bit level), how is it encrypted (SHA, MD5 etc), and where is it stored (MySQL database I assume).

In other words, how secure is my users data? Is an XOOPS system easy to hack (to a hacker that knows what he's doing)? What security holes are there (if any)?

Also check that the 'Read-Only' tick box is not ticked. If it is, clear it to make it writable (the equivalent of 666 chmod).
