API as in a series of commands you can send to any XOOPS site that automagically regsiters a user for that XOOPS website? That kind of API? There isn't one, other then the form used for registration. Fill in those fields and submit the form.

There's a reason for this tho (besides the simple fact that no-one ever built it): registration thru an API could bring a lot of unwanted user registrations, if not dealt with carefully. Users=access rights, and an increased security risk.

The 'Protector Module':http://www.peak.ne.jp/xoops

It actually protects, as it block a number of forms of attacks on your website.

Yup, but the system doesn't accept offers under $60.

Wow... you can guess my sentiment here. And you probably can do with less sentiment and more help in getting this done asap. I'll send this to my network, and we'll see if something comes up for you.

To the community: the xoops.info domains, if we can find a webmaster as dedicated and productive as James, the XOOPS Foundation will consider buying it from James. But it'd have to be actively maintained and expanded. Anyone willing to take on that job?

past experiences have taught us that time schedules don't mean squat in XOOPS core development. And as far as I know, there is no public timeschedule for the release of 2.3 and 2.4. It depends heavily on a number of factirs: availability of core developers, the amount of work that needs to be done, the amount of refactoring that needs to be done, the size of the resource pool that the core developers can utilise, the feedback from the community, bughunters, PHP developments, stability test reports, you name it...

I'd rule out next week or 'soon' in general tho.

There's no sour tone intended here, and it is not a jib at the core developers. They do all they can with very limited resources under maximum pressure, and will have to do a huge amount of work, most of which hasn't even been outlined yet.

2.2.4 you mean, and there's a 2.2.5RC in the CVS that hasn't been officially released due to lack of feedback. But yes, for the 2.2.x series, it is the end of the road.

Actually, you should ask phppp about the 2.2.5 status. He's the developer who took on the task of releasing the update release for XOOPS 2.2.4. ANd xuser, since you're chinese just like phppp, you have easy access to that information.

Bytheway, the XOOPS project on sf.net ranks pretty high, so it probably isn't dead. But you're right, we haven't seen many updates in the svn recently.

But we knew this would happen:
1. when 2.0.16 was released, it was announced as the last 2.0.x release. Also, it was announced that development would focus on the next generation XOOPS code.
2. There have been 2 alpha releases for the 2.3 code branch. The community response to those releases was absolutely minimal. Judging by that, you could say that the XOOPS project was dead. It showed however, that the 'develop in public, try to involve as many people as possible, give everyone a chance to show their (hidden) talents' approach wasn't working. So, the developers now work privately and release whenever they feel it is right. The benefit of this could be that they release stuff that others can work with and build on, not just read along.
3. If, by pure chance and sheer luck, you're a talented developer and want to pool your talents with the rest of the core developers, please do contact phppp, skalpa and/or rowd about this.

So: the status of 2.2.x is in short: not recommended for new users, maitenance releases only, RC release published, but very little actual feedback on the RC.

Ask phppp to make it final, as the very last of the 2.2 series of XOOPS releases. If that makes you feel better

I only know Sugar CRM, the client relationship management software. For what you want, you'll be better suited with XOOPS I think.
