Thanks RHR,
Perfectly logical that PHP should incorporate patch related changes. And like the thread mentioned, new risks are opening as PHP advances, and PHP seems to be accelerating major version releases with reckless abandon (like Firefox, which went from v12 to 23 in what, a little over a year). Moores law in motion?

Suhosin has yet to release any undates for PHP v5.4.x and v5.5.x. Shared hosts are likely as a result of this, to hang on to 5.3 for the time being. Its a good thing that 2.5.6 and 2.6? will have backward compatibility until PHP and Suhosin come up with one.

A few webmaster forums surprisingly mentioned that PHP 5.3.2 and up actually included Suhosin in the PHP distibutions themselves. Not sure if that included that of the bundled Apache/PHP/MySQL server packages. Any one else hear anything like that?

What meanest thou by the word federated, Wishcraft? The term "decentralized federation" is an oxymoron, as federations naturally move in the direction of mass centralization. until hopefully, they might self destruct. I would call into question its use as a marketing term, because it seems like a negative association.

Unless you happen to be the Obamaphone lady. The love everything federated.

And don't forget to make backup copies of the originals and keep in a separate location before attempting to work on them. That way you can always change the file back if you find that your installation no longer works after you make changes.

First things first. Get up and running with the standard XOOPS installation, then try accessing as admin and user.

When you get to that point, you can make a backup of your install and db to revert to in case you get into trouble, then move forward to the questionnaire. Profile does not support this to my knowledge, so you are probably looking at a module such as quiz, or a custom retrofit.

Did you clean the cached templates (under maintenance) after making the change?

Try updating (not by uninstalling, then re-instaling....just click update option) the profile module....and what the heck, the system module too from in the modules administration page.

You should not have any spam or third party api problems using the default captcha for 2.5.6. I would reset everything back to the distribution default. I am using it with no issues. If you need additional spam protection options besides captcha, Protector module provides a spam look-up protection setting at the end of the module preferences config. Try that.

You can use the noscript and ghostery addons in Firefox to see when your browser is attempting various api calls to Google, Yahoo and others. When you are in a regististration page that uses apis.google.com or recaptcha.googe or whatever these will tell you that there is a third party dependency.

Using the standard n + n captcha in XOOPS 2.5.6 standard profile, there are no observable dependencies, however several versions of profile modules have made use of Google recaptcha, Wishcraft seems to love those third party dependencies for some reason. I believe as Mamba says you can configure to third party recaptcha if you want to.

PIWIC is a good independent analytcs script for local use that uses a JS tag, much like Google Analytics does. Downside is that if uses disable their JS, you go dark on their visit.

AWSTATS or WEBALIZER use server log and provides general stats, but do not provide user level tracking analytics.

None of these phone home to the Google/Yahoo/MS big brother ratpack.

XOOPS also has TDMStats and irmtfans User Log modules, but I have flagged what looked like XSS errors from the former.

Why not use the local captcha instead of Google? Google is a great search engine, but it has a dark side. As a condition to give you free use of API's and analytics, it collects detailed logs on your sites users and makes them available to their datamining clients.

Like the NSA.
Better to use local resources.

Standard Suico theme

The standard Suico theme appears to rendering html table row heights incorrectly in blocks, bloating the vertical dimension despite the same being absolutely and correctly declared in html and css. Cell height should the icon height, but I have another 100% over and above this that cannot be accounted for in the html or css code. Works as expected in other themes, but not this.

What could adding to the row height here?
