Thanks!

I agree with your sentiments. My concern is on two levels: First, that XOOPS may get a black eye by not taking a more intentional and proactive stance against this illegal activity, and two, that those who are buying their "product" are having faud perpetrated against them at a pretty costly rate.

Let me add, as well, that your work for XOOPS is greatly appreciated whether or not we might have slightly different views on this matter. Moreover, I am grateful for JMorris stepping in to turn off the namecalling. Your response, Madfish, was totally on target. It feels like more and more people are back helping folks in the forums and it's gratifying to see.

Kmicic:

Your php configuration is probably set up as cgi rather than the apache module. JaguarPC Hosting recently went the same route. Supposedly it enhances the security when your on shared servers.

You can check out this thread on their forums for further info on the cgi setup.

If all is as you have described, it should work. It sounds like one of those things where it's something really simple (i.e. you have a subsite where you have XOOPS installed and your settings are for the subsite rather than the site you're working on; you have duplicated the news module and are working in the duplicated module rather than the one you want to be working on, something like that that happens to me pretty regularly). I suggest a good night's sleep and a look at again in the morning because it should be working.

You might want to post a link to the url so that others can at least give it a look. If oyu can't figure it out, a second set of experienced eyes may be just the trick.

Good luck...

The following link may have some information that will help:

https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=50958&forum=27&post_id=224810#forumpost224810

Also, have you set the expiration of your session? You can set it to a custom length of time: ADMIN|PREFERENCES MAIN | GENERAL PREFERNCES|SESSION EXPIRATION

Until there is a working autologin, this may at least help.

This does sound like a nice adaptation. Maybe just adding a blank text box on the main registration form, that if filled with the correct regcode, automatically assigns them to the appropriate group. Then the box where you now have them enter the code is just included in with the standard registration form. If the regcode box has an entry, it is processed for the special group. If not, it is processed as a regular registration - kind of like on shopping carts where, if you have a discount code, you enter it for the extra discount. Heck, if I knew a thing about programming, I'd do it tonight...

Thanks, Peekay!

I'll try to apply the datebox one sometime within the next day or so.

Formulize compatibility with 2.0.14

Just wanted to see if this is compatible with 2.0.14 and if the conditions for installation are the same as they are described in the installtion documentation (need to use the included datebox and the selectbox patch files)?

From the documentation notes:Quote:
The modules in this package work with versions of XOOPS up to 2.0.13. There are known issues with the 2.2 branch.

Thanks!

Basically you unarchive it then put the files where they currently reside - in the XOOPS root so that mainfile.php goes where it is right now, the modules directory goes where it is, etc, til you have all the files uploaded.

Make sure and back up, of course, before you do anything. Both MySQL and the files.
