Thanks wuddel, I will give that a try. I would love to know how they submitted the form without answering the required questions. I know it is possible but I would love to know how... Anyone??? Feel free to PM instead of answering this post.

Edited to add: I know it's possible for a hacker to submit without completing all fields - but unlikely for the regular site visitor... but still want to know how to prevent it?

My registration page was spammed and some fields that should have been answered were left unanswered (should not have allowed him to submit the page without answering!) when I got the registration email. Is there a way I can make the form not spammable or use server side code to validate the fields that should be completed? I'm using 2.2.4. This hacker knew right where he was going - I suspect I'm not the first XOOPS site he's been spamming. I would like to prevent future spamming like this - is that possible?

Thank in advance,

Cuidiu

I would be interested in a change log as well.

Just a guess here but are you on a shared host? Does your host have a limit to how many emails are sent per hour?

Perhaps you could try adding this to your CSS class for your footer to get it to behave:
#footer {zoom: 1;}

OK so I'm not a HUGE developer anymore and am not too good with CSS and PHP...but I know that my problem lies somewhere with clearing my floats for positioning.
I am trying to get a footer at the end of each page - works great with the home page, but as soon as another page is called, the footer overlays text - instead of positioning AFTEr the last text...did I make sense?
This ONLY seems to happen in IE7 - works fine in 6.
I am using <div style="clear: both;"></div> just before my call to the footer divs...
driving me nuts I tell ya :) ANY HELP PLS??

Just wanted to add that it came to me that the user's email program may have wrapped the link down to a second line. I don't know how that would happen but it's the only thing I can think of. I've taken a look at the template and the new password link is on a line by itself with an empty line above and below it. The email that the user sent to me shows all lines running together. Is there a way to ensure that the link is not wrapped or will not run on into other lines should the email program (webmail in this case) strip out line breaks?

A users on a XOOPS 2.2.4 site reported the lost password link provided in the first email did not work. Usually, I suspect operator error in cases but decided to check it out. The user said they clicked on the link in the email and it went to an error page redirect. I requested they send me the original email mailed out by the system. They did and the link was fine. Then I checked the site log files. I see several attempts of:
http://domain.com/lostpass.php?email=john
instead of:
http://domain.com/lostpass.php?email=john@mail.com&code=283cf
It appears that the link was somehow cut off.

Any ideas how this could happen? I've seen other oddities with the lost password feature but this one is most strange. It even shows in the log that the link was clicked on from inside the email of a webmail account so they didn't copy and paste it. Any help trouble shooting would be most appreciated!

While his design might have been created with Dreamweaver, professional web design software, it is not a professional web design. If his example was to impress, it sorely misses the mark. Does this person know anything about developing a XOOPS theme? If not, you would be the one struggling to convert if you were to keep the CMS and switch the design. Either way, you would have to deal with the mess.

I agree with the others "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Stick with what you've got, tweak it a bit but don't go with this other fellow's work.

Thanks, Dave! Most of my hacks are to the profile module and a few system block files and system templates so I'm sure I have my work cut out for me. Thanks for the link to the compare tool also.

Thanks, Dave. I am using 2.2.4 on two sites (highly customized) so I will have to test 2.2.5 before deciding to use. Any advice on where I can find out what files have changed since 2.2.4 or am I out of luck on that one?

Thanks again.
