I was thinking about installing the new Short URLs hack, but I have to ask, excatly how this hack works and will it retroactively change existing URLs to the new short form, or will it only work going forward? I have too many folks linking to our various articles, that I don't want to change those URLs, thus having "dead" links.
Has anyone come up with a better more dynamically generated Meta Module for Xoops? Or at least a hack where the titles of articles will appear in the browser or meta title tag? Adding this simple feature will help with search engine rankings. Our rankings aren't bad (usually within the top 30 - 40, sometimes even the top 10) primarily because we're an "official" google news partner, but it could always be better and more consistent.
It's weird, because there was a whole bunch of weird crap and balloons going all over it, but once I cleared my cache it was gone. I have no idea what it is or if everyone else can see it.
Yep, I found a solution. For some reason my server won't let me use chmod commands through my FTP client. So I had my host provider chmod all the dirs 755 and the files 666, and everything works now. You can see it in action at eclipsemagazine.com
Has anyone been able to get the UserPoints to work in the 2x series? To this day I can't get it to work. All my files are chmoded 666 and the dirs 755, and I finally got it to hold changes in the config, but for some reason it's not updating the DB table. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this mod to work?
You can see it at eclipsemagazine.com, click the contest rankings link and you'll see what I mean by it's not updating the db tables.
good mod, a nice and necessary addition would be having it automatically import all your current users into the mod. So that way, site owners won't have to try and manually update it.
