Or does newsletter modules (such as evennews) have their own system for this where this problem is solved already?

Thanks
Daniel

Bennie..

Not exactly but that feature is very cool also, i might consider adding some menus like that if it's easy.

However, i was looking for the same thing you were looking by opening this thread, to split the main menu but preserve the full functionality of them so that when you click on a menu item for a module, submenus show up on the next page.
And when i do the menus with multimenu i loose these module submenus..

How did you solved this?

Thank you
Daniel

Thanks, but i am not exactly sure that it's what i need.. It seems to be something similar to TinyContent module for adding contents while i just need to split the main menu and link to existing contents (modules and static pages). It also seems to be in default portugeese..

Anyway, i might check it out..

Thank you
Daniel

Thank you but i tried with submenu already as i mentioned above, but then i don't have submenus.

What i mean is those menu items that come up when you for example click news and you get "submit news" and "archive" submenus.

With multimenu solution i don't have it and i need those submenus so i am looking if anyone knows how to get around that using multimenu (having submenus) or if anyone knows any other different solution where i could keep those submenus.

Thank you
Daniel

Hello..

I need the same thing (to split the main menu) so i am wondering, has any better solution for this arised from the last post above (3rd month 2004), maybe a hack or a module?

I tried it with multimenu and it's all easy and straightforward except if it wasn't lacking the submenus. When i do it with multimenu i loose submenus which are also important as they are used for submitting news, articles, blogs etc..

Thank you very much
Daniel

I couldn't not to reply to this after i saw the site. It's just touching and well, cute..

Your site is far from being a failure since you actually have history, not only a former succesful site, but the lost doggies found. You are helping those dogs and also helping their new owners. I am sure it means alot to them.

I am usually completely "closed in" tech world on the web, never browsing the real-life relates sites like this and i don't know if i could ever run such a site, and when i see your i get touched by it.

So don't quit, your problem is not that big, you just need to get that redirect set and you'll be fine.

If your site is a failure that what's mine, i have it for 2 month with only 44 members, low activity and tough "market" to get through (not the competition, but because i am covering a very wide area of topics).
It's a challenge however, and it can actually make it fun and exciting. And in your case, you have even more, you got history, past success and experience.

Keep it up man!

Good luck
Daniel

Non-member article authors in wf-section?!?

Hello

I noticed that only registered members can be specified as authors of articles in wf-sections. There is an anonymous option but it does not works as it always returns it to me as the article author.

Now, the thing is that authors of articles to be published with wf-sections are not always registered members or myself. Articles may be submited by not registered members also.

Also, i want to be able to to publish some good articles that somebody wrote and licenced under a licence that allows free redistribution (as FDL or creative commons), but then i have to write their name as article authors, and in wf-sections, i can't.

There should be an option to choose if you'll select a registered member or write an authors name yourself in a box.

I think it's not a problem to do it so i'd like that feature, or if i am missing anything, please do tell me.

Thank you
Daniel

How much does caching increases performance?

Hello.

I am interested in how much does caching really enhances the site performance. Can it really a big difference? Is it important?

You can estimate the percentage of around how much does the performance usually increases, but as far as i know i don't see any notable increase, but i'm on modem and i am i so somebody might actually notice some increases..

The reason why i am asking this is that caching takes up alot of space (if you turn caching on to all modules it actually copies the site so it always takes twice as much space as one whole site setup).

That's why i like to keep most of caching turned off, at least until i get to buy a gig of hosting

Thanks
Daniel

Thank you wfsections and bender..

It's not a biggy anymore. I did a fresh install just as you wfsections said and the articles display fine.

I only now messed a bit with the db wfs tables, but nothing bad. I am reinstalling it fresh again and i'll then delete the tables i am going to put back again in from my backup that contains my content and it would be ok.

Thank you guys for your help
Daniel
