Re: Referer shows alot of hits for phentermine, how do I remove

You have visible referrer block and links from you site can (in theory) increase PageRank of spamvertized this way sites.
Just use SiteStats 0.6 (it has, as I see only one small glitch with resetting top refers data), enable "Referer SPAM Control" in preferences (Reflect is nice, and can be slightly non-elegant only in case of your multihomed site) and add abusive url (regex supported) into the list of banned referrers) in "Referers Database"

Well, as "the professional misanthrope" I see half-empty glass as the mirage, because glass is empty long years

If you could for a minute see the glass half-full, which areas would you recommend to focus on to make XOOPS a better and more successful project?

The reanimation of
Liason Team
Communication Team
Documentation Team
PR&Marketing Team
Theme Design Team
(reanimation in written order, but... disputable)
this action will can (I hope) pour the blood in XOOPS and catch worthy developers and remarkable designers.

Current core more or is less adequate to demands and requirements, but disgusting
- developer's docs
- the quality of the decoration the code
- the style of coding
harms the wide attraction of competent, professional PHP- developers, unknown marginal CMS can give nothing to theme designers, or just designers... I think, my (in less part my) artezian.ru can be used as good example - "What can real Designer to draw... implementable in XOOPS"... 3 new projects are on desk now, we'll implement hi-end design more and more times

hmmm well XOOPS 2.2.x release was open from the beginning, and fully open to every1, and look where that got us!!!

the alpha/beta stage got thousands of pointless posts on the forum

Well, it shows only quality of current XOOPS-userbase, and such userbase is result of past and current policy

It should sound like "Can the other CMS's compete with xoops?"
And anwser will be short and easy: "Yes, at least some subset"
Drupal - have more power
Xaraya - have more power
... and I'll skip hi-end CMS, as Plone, Typo3, ezPublish

Quote:
I want now to show me a cms that you can do that , I don't think that there is any other than xoops.
You are wrong, and show only lack of experience in this are.
Xaraya
Drupal
even Mambo/Joomla
are not to hard to understanding (and I see a lot more "local" coders for , f.e., Mambo, than for XOOPS)

Wich are our customers dear xoopsers ?? Do you know ?
I know !!

I know too, and our knowledge is dramatically different... This can mean only one thing - there aren't absolute true, there are more than two (black&white) colors in the world

Our customers are not newbies that want to set up an simple stuning site in 2 seconds with all the flashes lights and cool colors.

Our clients can be unexperienced web-users, which want to have these fashionable pieces, but found <...> to complex for own brains... and discovered "XOOPS - usable even for idiots"

Quote:
And not forget the security. I don't know any secure cms than xoops. I ve seen phpbb attacked, phpnuke too, vbulletin sure but NO xooops!

I know, and that? Nothing perfect exist, at least long... Yes, XOOPS have less problem, than some other system, but ask: "Why?"... One of answers - because it's unknown to wide audience system, sporadically used and mentioned. Get popularity as PHP-Nuke - and XOOPS sites will be hacked a great more amount of times

XOOPS.org (Project) have a huge set of died Teams, every new team change only rank of memebers, nothing more
You can see some teams here - and note, what last time changes not reflected on this page... Site not maintained, it's frozen, except sporadical (user-submitted) news and overactive forums

News Team - died
Liason Team - died
Module Development - died with XOOPS 2.2
Theme Design - died
Quality Control - have some own "internal" life, doesn't affect module quality at all
Support - died... or at least invisible and useless in forums
Documentation - died... Current docs is a bad parody on "documentation"
Community Relations - died... Obviously...
Product Development - died. We haven't product, or something like as "Concept of product". And XOOPS can't be product now, it's more question, than answer.
Joomla - product, brand
Drupal - product, solution
Xaraya - product, even site show it

Re: can xoops compete with joomla?

Marco , I don't want any news for me. I'm totally disappointed, sad, angry... and still here on xoops2.ru user's requests, which still trust in XOOPS Development Team. Even more - I read a lot of "good news" on xoops.org, which produced nothing in result... thus - news will be only words, empty words for me.
And madness still exist in heads, even this thread show it perfectly

Re: can xoops compete with joomla?

I think, you can already learn:
Current project management and communication policy is something like:
"All we do is Big Secret, which we do as we think is better... don't worry, we know it better than you... which will be opened when somebody decided 'it's good time for'"
Developers don't think about permanent and transparent communications as "must have" for project's vitality and seems even don't know, that is responsibility in big project.
Responsibility is not only write good code, but also respect users and support user's choice by
- having
- publishing
strategic and tactic plans, informaton about project life and changes, which can affect users("Where is Scalpa?", "Why Mith silently disappeared?", "What you (Team) will do this month|this quarter?" etc.. etc...)

Now XOOPS devs position itself by the infallible gods, who prophesy to the flock from the unattainable heights, when it implores the miracle.

This "unique" policy generate most of problems and questions... XOOPS Development team not open for communication with users, they forgot simplr thing - they are (and XOOPS) are nothing, zero, without users, which used-use (?)-will use (?!?!) product...

Weak management, poor organisation, the unwillingness to think to the step forward, the unwillingness to learn on the examples of the more transparent and more organized projects. The exaggerated pride and the overstated self-appraisal is the lightest diagnosis, which I can write down into the therapeutic map
