blank white page - fixed 2.2.x

hi all. i had the dreaded blank white page. here's what happened and how i got lucky.

xoops 2.2.x

i disabled XOOP-Stats v0.60. no problems.
i removed via admin section XOOP-Stats v0.60 and got the blank white page.

http://.../admin.php is also a blank page.
http://.../recovery.php is a blank page.

by chance i decide to delete the stats module from the directory, try to access my site again, and it worked!

i don't know why but all is well.

thought i'd post it in case another person has a similar problem.

Cache lifetime in the edit blocks admin section does not seem to help.

i merely link to my astore, but it wouldn't be difficult to stick it into a block. my only complaint it that i wish it didn't point users to any product that i can't get a commission on. such as "Listmania!" show's product that users have to purchase from the amazon site instead of my site. nevertheless astore seems like an easy way to get a store up online. i don't really think a module is useful for this but that also shouldn't be hard to slap together if wanted.

using version 2.2.x

i'm using an iframe in a block to show another website. the site within the iframe has very limited bandwidth and has about 60 dynamic pages. if i could keep about 6 of these pages stored somehow on the XOOPS site, say updated about once every minute, it would greatly help control my bandwidth problems. any thoughts?

Hi. This XOOPS faq has helped me in moving. I moved a site and had the same problem. Never did figure out what I did wrong, then I tried again from scratch and all went well. This may be useful also. Good luck.

okay, i've totally changed things around. showing off some of my content like you suggested. i've also added a block telling people about the free membership. the art work will be switching here and there until i can find the right fit. thanks for your suggestions!

mmmnnn... maybe a block with some content scrolling. i just wanted to keep the front page simple and possible objectional material out of sight. the logged in front page lists all the content with the standard newest and most popular blocks.

okay, say "free" more loudly and show off a little content. thanks!

not really. but that's the long term goal. i think the general structure is alright but would like to hear any ideas. also the art kind of sucks, suppose i'll have to speak to an artist one of these days. here it is:
