Smarty 3 and Smarty 4 coming soon to XOOPS

We're moving to Smarty 3.x and Smarty 4.x - please help us with testing and improvements!

Following development has happened so far:

1) Geekwright has initiated the conversion to Smarty 3 for XOOPS 2.5.11

2) Mage made some improvements to the Smarty 3 code

3) I've updated Mage's Smarty 3 version to Smarty 4
Direct download as a Zip file is here

Our current thinking is to:
a) release XOOPS 2.5.11 with Smarty 3 (it would be compatible with PHP 2.5.3 up to PHP 7.4)

b) soon after, release XOOPS 2.5.12 with Smarty 4 (minimum PHP version would be then PHP 7.4, and it would be fully compatible with PHP 8.2.x - I'm testing this above version with PHP 8.2.3

So who is going to help us with testing and development ???

Check out the new module XoopsSecure being developed by DjCulex

This module is to scan for malware, security settings, developer issues and to do full server file backup!

Please help with testing and bug fixing!

I'll include it in the next version of Publisher. Please share the name of your programmers, so we can give them credit.
Or they can submit the changes directly to us via GitHub.

You were not clear about what you want to change - is it the translation, or the name of the variable?

You can change the translation in the language file: /modules/publisher/language/russian/main.php

Tell us more about the issue and the desired outcome of the change?

Publisher is being developed and tested on XOOPS 2.5.11, and while the minimum PHP version is PHP 7.4, we are testing it on PHP 8.2

Why don't then translate the files? It's pretty easy.

Just copy the /english folders and rename them to your local language name, and then translate the files there (Google Translate can help with that). Once you're done, you can upload them to GitHub, so others could use them too!

There shouldn't be any big language differences between XOOPS 2.5.10 and 2.5.11, but you can always compare language files from these two version using something like WinMerge
