Awhile back The exnews theme was republished and I never got a chance to experiment with it, trick it out, try some stuff etc.

anyone have this theme?

As found here-But no longer...

Would appreciate very much to find it.
as I think we now would like to mess with it for our news powered site.

upgrade 2.0.17-> 2.0.18

Is there an upgrade patch or do we just overwrite everything?
and then go through install.

Its been awhile..
Actually have an even earlier version..(2.0.16) and was so familiar with getting patches but I cant find any..

Found it just had to dig further...

News Module Topic and Subtopic issue fix?

Heres one:

In News just Cant figure out how to link to Full topic (or Category) with its subtopic elements listed.

ie:

Main Topic = News
Subtopic=Category Headlines
Submore topic=headline topic
SubMore Topic=headline topic



Well I can link to a page that has main topics category...
ie: ..storytopic=#

But none of the "submore topics" will display on that Subtopic section even though theoretically they should.

-Does that make sense? Perhaps not.
By example:

On our site HERE, check out this issue, it is apparent via the news select menu.

On the Run -is a news category
The type of show 'On the Run' would be a Subcategory.
For example We have populated subtopic "community" ,

But rather than 'Community' showing up in "On the Run" news topic area it only shows up at the more specific community.

This has been a problem with news module for years now.
Did anyone explore a fix to it other than a different module?


In addition, does the Articles module behave differently with regard to Categories and subtopics? Been thinkign about converting over, but we have always loved the news module.

hmm This post is made from IE7.

I mean I usually use Firefox and im inclined to believe the IE7 is buggy so i tried it. BUT, no problems here.

Again I think this is more of a user setting, firewall, windows defender, ISP; I dunno. But It seems to be unique to certain users, I really wouldn't call it a bug in xoops.

no one interested in that? I see it on so many news/event web sites but havent seen it on a sngle XOOPS site. Joomla etc. have something similar.

Hello, Anyone now of a module that is closest to offering this?

ie: we use Pical and News-
Would love to be able to feature the relevant calendar link{s} in the news. Or better...

The closest to what we've wanted for a long time was the old 'theatreman' module. But it wasnt quite right.

Been away for awhile and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions, would like to finally resume work on this again.

A calendar/event module that publishes/behaves like news?

I imagine it would be great for sports/news/events,
music gigs, meet ups etc. all sorts of sites as well.

Any thoughts?

Im not sure whats wrong.

Can you share your addition? This seems to be a nice feature for many of us who already rely on the news mondule so much instead of the article module.

we always recommend our users try firefox like above. Rarely problems. But we also recommend that with IE...that they add our site to their "trusted" list in internet options. This seems to help with a lot of IE issues.

In IE-
this would be like
Internet options
-Security
--Trusted Sites

Restart browser-

This has actually worked for many of our users, but its a pain to explain it all the time. And, it sometimes does not resolve the issue.

In addition there has been mention of setting session time in the site preferences for a bit.
