Thanks Mazarin - I had omitted part of one of the lines in the code hack of checklogin.php. Working now!

Cheers,

Perfect Mazarin - thanks!

-EDIT-
I installed the module and set Anonymous group to start with the FAQ module and all other groups to start with Forum module. Now when I access the site, I'm shown the FAQ page (correct), but when I then log in, I'm not taken to the Forum page as I'd like...

Sorry, for Anonymous users, I didn't mean log on, I meant when they view the site.

What I've done is gone into User Groups and unchecked access to Forums. Then I checked in the Forums module permissions to be sure that Anonymous doesn't have access.

Now when I log out and access the site as an Anonymous user, I'm taken straight to the login page and am shown the message "Sorry, you don't have permission to access this area." This is I think because the Forums module is set to be the first module the site displays - I guess I just have to change that... but then it would be nice to have the Forums page automatically load when a registered user logs in...

Start Page by Group?

Hi all,

I've decided to make my forums accessible only to registered users, so I'd like to set a different start page for Anonymous users so that when they log in, instead of just getting the message "You don't have permission to access this area" (my general start page is set to forums, so Anonymous users will see this warning if I take away their access to the forums module) - instead of that, they see the FAQ, News, or Articles, for example.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks.

I was originally thinking about having a button just for my XOOPS site with no relation to Facebook, just for internal use on my site. But this looks interesting as well.

If anyone knows of an existing way to do it just in my XOOPS site, please let me know.

Cheers,

Facebook-"like" Functions

I think it would be cool to have a couple of functions in XOOPS that we have on Facebook. Namely,

1) The ability to "Like" (or "Dislike") a forum post.
2) The ability to "tag" other users in forum posts.

I've had a bit of a look around, but didn't seem to find anything like these functions. Did I miss something? Is there anything like this available for XOOPS?

Cheers,

This advice was very helpful - just helped me solve the same thing. Wish we had a "Like" option for posts like the have on Facebook.

Japanese Garbled after Upgrade

Hi All,

The Japanese I've used on my website in Forum Category Names, User Rank Titles, and in the content of forum posts themselves has all been garbled after I upgraded from 2.3.3 -> 2.4.4.

For example, this: 村長
has become this: 村長

Is there any way I can recover / undo this?

Thanks,

- b -

Hi ghia,

Thanks for your response.

Quote:
If it is set as start page, is it working when you go to /modules/newbb/?

Yes.

Quote:
Is there a link where we can see this?

Well, I have the site turned off at the moment - only admins can log in. I can open it up temporarily if necessary.

Quote:
Is this also the case with one of the standard themes?

I actually forget which are the standard themes. The problem happens when I use a customized version of the "kubrick" theme that I've been using on the site since last year, but when I change the theme to a new one "natural_3" that I installed last night, the problem does not occur. (Thanks for suggesting this!)
*Edit: I found and tried the default theme, and it works normally.

Quote:
Or when all blocks for the start page are set to invisible?

The problem still occurs when all the blocks for the start page (Forum) are set to invisible.

Quote:
Did you run the file check (see release notes)?

I was going to do this, but I only saw the file checksum.md5 in the upgrade package, not checksum.php. Do I get checksum.php separately somewhere?

Thanks for your help - perhaps the theme I was using is incompatible with 2.4.4?
