...a rookie question on this technique:

(I have a pending new site that may require the XOOPS install to be in a subdirectory)

If you use the index.html redirection, or an .htaccess to redirect...

..does that affect how you look to the search engines?
If so, how? ...and how can you overcome that?

thanks

I posted similar earlier...

It seems the only banners that register clicks are conventional image/link URL types.

I have seen that neither flash banners nor html banners accumulate clicks...only impressions.

...watching for a fix also.

Jeff... I am in the process of evaluating this module on a test site.

I am by no means an expert on it...but initial reaction is that you are stuck with the current Xoop-ified version of Zen Cart.

It seems that development on the module is dead...so what you see is what you've got to work with.

I have found it far better than OsC to work with...and, at this point, it may meet my needs rather well.

...have more work to do on it, though.

Update on this problem...

It appears that click-count will only accumulate on simple banners, specified as Image URL and Click URL.

Any banner that uses the HTML option shows impressions but does not register clicks.

Not a killer...but a disappointment.

Has anyone seen this and have a fix for it?

Thanks

Perfect...thanks so much for the insight.

Added the clickTAG and now the banner responds.

Still have minor issues to work thru,,,but this helps get them functional.

Minor issues...
admin issue...click counters do not seem to accumulate on flash banners..
..nor on banners that are pulled from external servers.
Appears that the click count only accumulates on locally stored banners. ???

also, Flash banner, upon click, opens destination in same browser window.... would like it to spawn new tab or new windows...so as not to "lose the impressee"

Thanks again for that fix, Pod

Several affiliates are now supplying flash-based banners.

Our 'static' banners work, as do animated-GIF ones as well.

But when we create a new banner with the vendor-supplied code, the banner displays OK, but does not respond to clicks.

I have seen a few earlier threads on this topic, with no replies...

Here is the typical supplied code:

<a href="https://www.regnow.com/softsell/nph-softsell.cgi?item=4864-11&affiliate=xxxxx"><object classid='clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0' width='468' height='60' id='Reason 146 (468x60)' align='middle'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='sameDomain' /><param name='movie' value='Reason 146 (468x60).swf' /><param name='menu' value='false' /><param name='quality' value='high' /><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff' /><embed src='http://www.acronis.com/i/banner/affiliate/Reason146(468x60).swf' menu='false' quality='high' bgcolor='#ffffff' width='468' height='60' name='Reason 146 (468x60)' align='middle' allowScriptAccess='sameDomain' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' /></object></a>

...any clues from this?

Thanks

I would like to see it...and swap some Q & A.

thanks

oh, BTW...the Image insertion in Dokuwiki just doesn't work for us.

We are using direct links to gallery thumbs and full-size images and have scrapped any thought of wiki:images

LOL! ...amazing.

I have just spent a lot of time implementing Dokuwiki on a site... felt that it was working well.

Then...seeing your post, I turned on the Debug and...

whoosh...pretty much the same set of several dozen errors, just like you!

Regardless, it does work. v.2.02 tamed the search function and that is what I have running.

I evaluated both Wiwimod and Dokuwiki... I was biased towards using Doku, since I had already done some manuals on a Joomla site, using Dokuwiki, am got pretty comfortable with the syntax.

Until v.2.02 fixed the search, I was content in settling for Wiwimod and found more freedom with the formatting and direct HTML capabilities.

Both work satisfactorily, IMHO. I probably will go live with the Dokuwiki module.

I did find Wiwimod m-u-c-h faster... and that was a positive.

Maybe all the errors that we see now were the cause of the slowness in Doku.

Now, the internal search works.

Thanks again.
