That could be a good idea. May be easier to implement?

Hi,
I am re-creating my website as I am not happy with how everything turned out, but I have over 300 members, which I do not want to lose. Is there an easy way, after installing the new site and setting up, that I can add the members I already have to the new website?
I am guessing copying certain parts of the database?
Thanks in advance.

Showing a site inside xoops?

Hi all,
I need to show a website inside where a module page would normally be, I tried making a new basic module that had the php include tag and then the page, it comes up with the homepage, but when you click on a link it goes to the actual site.
Is there any way to stop this and get the whole site to work inside of the XOOPS framework?
I do not want to use Iframes or applets.

Thanks in advance.

Just reconfigure mainfile.php!
You will need to change the path to the server, e.g.
define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH''usr/home/username/public_html');

Then change the database details, hostname should in most cases stay the same, username, just put your new username and then your new password, and finally the database name you were worried about.
Look around about line 143
// Database Hostname

    // Hostname of the database server. If you are unsure, 'localhost' works in most cases.

define('XOOPS_DB_HOST''localhost');

// Database Username

    // Your database user account on the host

define('XOOPS_DB_USER''username_user');

// Database Password

    // Password for your database user account

define('XOOPS_DB_PASS''password');

// Database Name

    // The name of database on the host. The installer will attempt to create the database if not exist

define('XOOPS_DB_NAME''username_xoops');

Make sure you keep the table prefix the same!
If you do get stuck I will give you a hand as I was in your position once!

First of all, welcome to the XOOPS community!

I have found XOOPS to be very flexible, I have never wanted to do something like this, not sure if it would be easier to create a new group for every person or if there is a module about which could allow you to set different permissions per different user rather than group.
It is worth having a search around as what I love the most is the design flexibility, you can make any design work in xoops, I personally have not a clue of php (I do plan on learning but am struggling) so I currently get xoopsdesign.com to do all of my projects, I design the layout in photoshop and they create the theme.html/style.css etc...
I would reccomend them highly if you do struggle with theming.
I understand you have worked with php before, this could be helpful as you have an idea of how to edit modules to how you like them.
Overall I definitely think that you should experiment for a few weeks with xoops, as when I first started using it, I was confused as all I got was the white page with a small blue login block But after a little messing around worked out everything and have not used any other portal/cms ever since.
I have personally tried and tested about 30 other portal/cms scripts and I still think XOOPS is top!
If you ever do struggle with anything, please do contact me and I will see if I can help. I don't know everything about xoops, but after asking a lot of questions, I am getting to know it like the back of my hand.
STICK WITH IT!
Cheers

I did that, I need to know how to integrate an existing forum with about 600 members and about 25,000 posts, I really would prefer not to lose anything from the forum, but I would love to change the stand alone forum to a XOOPS site.
Cheers

Hi all,
I know this may sound like a dumb question, but here goes;
is there any way of integrating a free invision power board into xoops?
As invision seem to be funny about giving access to their free databases???

Thanks in advance.
Nick
