PHP Script Block Question

hi all. i'm trying to learn php and thought i'd use a block in XOOPS as a place to test out my little scripts. yet it doesn't seem to be working or i'm just not understanding how the blocks work. like when i do:

<?php echo 'xoops is the best cms in the world.'; ?>

nothing appears in my block. regardless of the content type setting. i'm using 2.2x. thanks for any tips.

is it a custom block or from a module?

does it happen with other blocks?

you may also want to turn on php debugging so you can give more information to guys who know more than i.

Hi all. I have a martial arts site that I enjoy playing around with that has one of the largest and most accurate site links directories and I'm wondering if any other xoopsters that have similar sites would like to partner up. I'm thinking maybe just having a block on all pages with a small graphic or text linking to a similar type XOOPS based site to help boost traffic. hi all. i'm playing around with kaotik's module tutorial and thought i'd try to make a bittorrent tracker. it's my first time so it's going to be ultra-simple. but i'm having a hard time finding good technical information on how a tracker works and the bittorrent protocol. does anybody have any suggestions. tia, eric.

hi. i realize this is a pretty late post on this topic but somebody just told me about some pretty neat software that is similar to what we are talking about and i thought i'd mention it.

dadabik - DaDaBIK is a free PHP application that allows you to easily create a highly customizable front-end for a database in order to search, insert, update and delete records; all you need to do is specifying a few configuration parameters.

hi all. i think i've made a dumb mistake. my XOOPS site is hosted on yahoo and i thought i'd use phpmyadmin to create another database and a new user just to play around with. my screw up was that i meant to limit the new users permission to only using the new database, but stupidly unchecked all permissions for myself, and i can't change anything on MySQL now. my XOOPS site still functions alright. so is there a way to use XOOPS to get my permissions back? could i just put a little php in a block with some sql to grant me my permissions back.

does that make sense? thanks for any tips.

it's totally retarded the webmaster doesn't have an email address or something posted to contact him for things like this. i've also asked to have my email changed, quite a while ago, and it has not happened.

i am willing to offer my services if needed.

we should fix this!
