After I read that, it came across a lot harsher than it was ment. Apologies

I was just trying to point out what the majority of peeps who ran across that would be doing. I mean, for gawdsake, AOL and webTV are still around!

As far as the IE vs FF, I could care less. I look at logs, see who has the majority and cater to them. Now if they could only get rid of Opera

The firefox msg is ...ummm... well, IMO lose it.

Granted, you get a $buck$ if someone does it. But I wonder if adsense would have a problem with the harrassing nature of the ad. (?)

Other than that, site looks fine. I won't be back however, I don't like to be bullied/spammed into browser choices with every link.

I posted HERE about the topicid bug in News 1.4 - it's a real PITA if you or your users submit news via the cool app w.bloggar.

I've finally come up with a work around - not perfect but it saves a lot of time by not having to go into the database every time a 'non selected topic' is posted.

Just go into the admin section, news, topics. Create a topic. Name it whatever. I named mine "Xoops News 1.4 Bug".

Then go into your DB manager (phpmyadmin or whatever you use) and browse _topics (xoops_topic if you used the standard) find your new topic, and assign it topicid "1".

This way, every time someone who has omitted the topic, and News 1.4 throws it into topicid 1, you'll at least be able to see the post and edit it!

Hope this saves someone else some time!

Personally, I would go with News 1.1. I recently moved over to News 1.42 and I'm starting to regret it.

News 1.42 has some nice features, I dig the meta input and the Page titles, but I'm still debating if it's all worth it.

If you want to customize the Recent news template, you'll want to view this to fix the bug in that block:
https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=43135&forum=28&post_id=189027#forumpost189027

I've yet to find a way to "Move this story on top" without changing the date and time of the article.

If you or your users submit news via w.bloggar, be aware there is a topicid bug in 1.42

Again, News 1.42 rocks in other areas but can be a tad frustrating and time consuming in others. My experience with it anyway...

Actually I was. But no biggie. My site is meant to raise a few eyebrows and in ways cause heated disscussions (news posts).

As far as p0rn0 xoops, yup there's some out there. Most are just personal sites - with nekkid chicks.

Tabs- UdaMan!

I'm probably overlooking it, but is there a way to "move story on top" ala the way News 1.1 does it with a checkbox or something?

The only way I can figure to do it now is by changing the date / time and well, that sucks

Thanks!
