great tutorials, thanks a lot for this collection.

I've still got a question concering the xoops_version.php:

how do I create a line feed in the text? e.g. I want to have an output (click on the module info symbol) like this:

Description:
line 1
line 2

I've fiddled around with br-Tag, \n with and without '', "" etc. but didn't succeed.

Also if there are German Umlauts encoded in the text XOOPS doesn't show them properly but masks the "&" with an additional "&"

TIA & kind regards

I'm glad to see that there's a constructive discussion now on this topic

Just to mention it: I've gathered a list of XOOPS support sites all over the world on my site. It has about 30 items. Some of them could even be neglected. So it wouldn't be a great problem to send a cc-mail to each webmaster of those sites. In fact it's only ONE mail that has to be sent. The rest, as alredy mentioned, would be spread viral.

So the simple "plan b" would be:

(1) if sth happens, inform the community
(2) try to get it to work again.

If one single person works on (2), he also cares for (1)
If a team works on (2), they choose one person for (1). This shouldn't be a problem, because they communicate how to solve the server problem (I'm sure they do talk to each other... )

Yesterday, when I hour by hour tried to reach xoops.org, I had a look at google.

the last Google-Cacheing was as of 16 Sep 2007 01:05:52 GMT,

at 15 Sep 2007 16:28:24 GMT already, dev.xoops.org said "db connection failed"

That's still the status quo.

whatever happened -- it would have been nice to inform the members by any other channel. Most of the team members have a homepage or a blog, or at least they could have informed some multiplicators as e.g. the national communities by email or news posting on their sites.

There's still no news or apology concerning this on the xoops.org index page...

Hi,

there exists a slightly enhanced German version 1.03 of the Birthday module. It has an additional php-file to show a birthday list.

Unfortunately the DL address where I've got it from doesn't exist anymore. If interested, I'd try to contact the German programmer who had released this version.

AFAIK, there are some parts hardcoded so I'd have to rechange this into English and/or add a readme.

Hi,

the XOOPS comments manager (via System Admin) lets you delete single comments. If you click on Delete, you are asked whether to delete this one or all comments.

It would be really nice and convenient if one could first check the unwanted comments (there's already a dummy checkbox in the first column), so one really can delete selected comments.

I know such functions from my webmailer, and I really apreciate it.

Maybe someone could write little hack for this?

Hi, Macskosz,

the function should be availabe exactly where you're looking for it.

I'd recommend to re-tranfer the /modules/system/admin.php to your server.

Hi,

you might also have a look at DH-Info which is based on the content module, but more flexible. Submenues can be always visible or dynamic, you can put your pages in iframes etc. And, very important: the permissions can be set very detailed.

you can get some more info here

if you've got any questions, please feel free to ask

Hi,

you can also determine which block should appear on the start page

System Admin > Blocks

1. set "visible" to "Yes".

2. "Edit" the block, change the "visible in" option to start page.
